Need advice for carpet colour on my stairs please - 1930s traditional
Comments (43)hi all, update is I have finally found a photo of someones stairs done in Brintons timorous beastie yellow Ruskin butterfly and its made me decide we are definitely 100% going for this as I love it (see attached pics) on stairs and landing... Floor in hall will be oak herringbone parquet, just wall colour to decide and we have bought new tall skirting so colour to paint this also? i have attcahed apic of the hall currently so you can see our front door with stain glass.. As Ive mentioned before the banister and spindles will be replaces with square spindles with an oak top banister and oak end cap - similar to this houzz pic ... So just to deicide on wall colour and new skirting colour... I really like f&b light blue in a hall with oak parquet but I don't feel this will go with the carpet... Kitchen and dining room will be one of the sage shades and lounge Wimborne white and downpipe......See MoreNeed help with my Hall and stairs 1930's semi house
Comments (8)If you don't want to lose the tiles then cover them with carpet in a rich colour. May I suggest dove grey or purple Leave the hard wearing paper Below the dado and paint either purple with the grey carpet or grey to compliment the purple floor. The upper walls bright white and eggshell in white for trims...skirting and doors. Wayfair site have some unusual silver or purple artwork choices for the walls. I would also choose a silver/grey or white tall radiator to add to the contemporary look and a roller blind combining those colours for the window....See MoreI need advice on how to use this hallway space in my rental.
Comments (13)Hi I agree it is a bit big to be called a hallway, however, on either side of it I have a snug with lots of book shelves and my favourite books (first photo) and open fire and a sitting room again with an open fire. The kitchen is small and I have put an Ikea Island in the middle of it as a table would not fit, I also have a 'dining room' where our kitchen table lives, so we don't have much furniture left for our 'hallway'. My sofa is old and is going. But I leave the front big wood door open during the day and the glass porch door closed so I get light through this room, it is lovely in the morning, very bright and I would like to use it more. It just looks like a corridor at the moment. I also have a lovely easel which I would love to put in this area so I might be drawn to do some art. The den with bookshelves and fire place Sitting room Sitting room...See MoreHall pictures/ display advice needed please
Comments (4)As Patrina has suggested a gallery wall in that space would look fabulous. Get all the pictures and photos you want to use and lay them out on the floor somewhere having first measured the wall space and marked it out with sheets of paper (we used old wallpaper off cuts sellotaped together). Keep shuffling and rearranging until you like the look. Draw around the pictures and number/ mark them on the paper. Then measure where the wires/ hooks are and mark them. Pin the paper to the wall and tap through the paper with picture hook pins. Then you have your layout. Take paper down, put the picture hooks up where you have marked, hang pictures. Then post the awesome results on her to inspire others!...See Morelouisep2012
