ceiling beams

I absolutely love the white ceiling beams. They add such architectural interest to this beautifully designed room. Could you tell me what the beams are made out of and what shade of white they are painted?
Also, what is the dimension of the beams and the height of this ceiling? Thank you

Hi Nikoletta,

Thank you for your kind comment on the beams, they are made from poplar 14" wide x 10" tall, he ceiling height is 102" and they are painted with Benjamin Moore paint - dove wing.

It's a tough one! Have you thought about getting a kind of wired light extension that streches across (like in the first picture)? Hi, you can use heatgun for it, it is very slow process but rewarding, you have to make sure that you not going to burn the wood, give a little heat and strip the paint off, or you can try paint remover..

Hi, I think that the lights you have currently are the problem as the lights point upwards to the ceiling creating the shadows as you've mentioned. Maybe by getting some ceiling lights which point downwards would be a solution. So your suggesting wall lights and lamps only. No recessed spots or led strips along beams? We will be having tv unit in alcove furthest from window and a sofa facing fireplace just placed in front of doors on either side. The other half of the room will be a dining area temporarily. Will wall lights be enough and how many? I prefer symmetry in my rooms also. The ceiling to floor is approx 7ft. I’ve read to make a room look higher than it is uplighters are best is this so? If our plans work out the dining area will eventually turn into a quiet area with comfy chairs bookcase etc. My husband is not a fan of wall lights says it restricts you if u want to change furniture around. I love them but with a low ceiling I am unsure how high up they should be not just for best lighting but for furniture arrangement and if they are on a wall where u walk could be an obstacle? I have also posted about my spiral staircase but I put it in the topic design dilemmas but it is about lighting also.
