Hi. I would go with the light grey Handleless units in part 1 with the white Quartz worktop and the floor to the left of your thumb. Alternatively the greige drawer on part 1 with the same worktop and floor but maybe see if you can buy your own handles for them to fit ( perhaps some cup handles which may be more in keeping with your normal style). If the White Quartz is too white then go for the sparkly one. I've found a pic just to give you some idea of option 1 (ish!). I'm not sure where the laminate comes in?

Hi Pamela, what type of wood flooring do you have, and is it suitable for the new kitchen area, as ideally you'd have one type straight through. If it's not suitable, then stay away from laminates as the quality and style could clash with the wood. Maybe go for a good tile............normally i'd say porcelain, but dogs can skid on that as the grip isn't to good for them. You've gone for a black and white theme and tying it in with wood can difficult as they two colour schemes don't gel well. How about a wood effect, but grey tone tile. The textures would look similar, but be different?? This tile below has the grey tones, but also introduces a little brown to tie the two areas together. Introducing an accessory colour in the kitchen which works well with the lounge will also help with the transition. LInk to wood effect tile

Hi Cake lady thanks for your comment. I have considered the wood effect tiles. However the kitchen adjoins a hall which has an oak laminate floor. I'm concerned the two different types of wood will clash. what do you think? Good to know they're low maintenance. I'm steering well away from gloss tiles as spent years trying to keep black gloss tiles clean in our bathroom. Finally replaced last year !

Okay, so here are my concerns with the current layout: with no space to the other side of the sink, where will the dirty/clean dishes go. In our house, we put dirty dishes on one side and when unloading the dishwasher, put stuff that still needs to be dried off on the other side. But you may well have another system of loading/unloading. Also, items that can't go into the dishwasher need to be somewhere when dirty and then put somewhere when clean. So, in my experience a sink needs counterspace on two sides. You do need somewhere to put appliances, like the toaster/kettle, coffee machine or maybe a stand mixer? If they are behind doors that aren't pocket doors, you'll be working in a 'confined space', which doesn't seem very practical. I've been through the whole thought process recently and we've decided to do without doors in front of the breakfast counter. Very happy with that decision. I'll post pics so you can see how it looks. We also have kitchen doors that lead to the pantry behind the tall bank of cupboards. We've put the ovens above each other, because one oven we already had and the other one is new and a slightly different design. This left space for two pull out larders, one either side of the ovens. Then we have a tall freezer, tall fridge, double doors to the pantry. We also have a separate coffee corner. Hope this helps.
