Need help with our outdoor garden 'room'

We have an outdoor sheltered area with two permanent walls. The rest is open to the elements. It benefits from a south west facing garden so it's the perfect spot to enjoy the afternoon and early evening sunshine. It is covered in wisteria which looks stunning in the summer. We currently use it to just store garden furniture and equipment but we want to turn it in to a beautiful place to sit and unwind with a glass of wine and dinner. We like the idea of being able to use the space in the winter too and on colder evenings with the inclusion of a wood burning stove, soft seating and lighting. How can we achieve this with a reasonable budget and work with the existing structure given the wisteria is climbing all over this currently?

How about the inclusion of a hanging pod? Have a look at my profile where you will find more pics! Can be hung or freestanding and a great place to relax.

Our bedroom measures 19ft by almost 11ft with a window in both short sides. The wall space on either side of the window is just 720mm. I would ideally like to keep some of the window light in the bedroom - are glass doors really expensive? This is a first floor bedroom would it be possible to make it into a tiny tanked room? We want to keep the bedroom as large as possible. Thank you.

Hi Miriam Judging from the photos I would try yellow/primrose color or a warm green. I like the color on the wall behind the fireplace is it green? The colors from Farrow and Ball are : Tallow; house white old white; Mizzle; Cooking apple green With regards to the fireplace I will try to remove the painting a show the wooden structure if it is possible I can't judge from the photos, I hope it helps Silvia

This space has potential and you can work with what you have. Perhaps you could start by power-washing the decking and refreshing the colour, along with the log rolls. Try using Garden Shades. It’s a bit more pricey but gives good coverage and lasts. It also has a good range of colours. As previously suggested use artificial turf (middle tier where the yellow tractor is on pic). Keep the Box shrubs but reshape. You have what looks like a sculpture/water feature that is hidden - bring that out and make a feature of it on the decking. You could always get your joiner to cut out part of the decking and make a trap door then sink a sand pit below. Trellis part of your fencing and grow climbers - protect the young plants by burying plastic coated metal mesh in the soil and above the soil by a couple of feet (make sure any sharp edges are made safe for the kids). Buy large pots rather than small, plant them up and place on decking. We are surrounded by fields and wild rabbits invade our garden. They will eat anything if hungry but there are plants they will tend to avoid. Luckily they are mainly of the same pink/purple pallet. Try planting any of the following: Hellebore, Lambs Ear, Peony, Salvia, Baptista, Cat Mint, Foxgloves, Astilbe, Veronica, Iris, Lavender, Allium, Daffodils, Bee Balm, Daylily, Anise Hyssop - above all, keep that bunny well fed with what you want it to eat! If you made timber stud walls and had the additional piece of roof mostly or all clear then you would still benefit from shade of the Wisteria in Summer. There are various clear roofing systems at different costs. Some access points (like rood lite windows) would be a good idea in two or three places, to prune the Wisteria.

I built a structure in my garden using mainly reclaimed materials from a house demolition. Only the screws and clear roof panels had to bought.

The wood-burning stove and the correct chimney with attachments is likely to be the most costly bit.
