Need some ideas for a very small office
Comments (10)Hello Mawlw, Yes storage in a small room can be tricky... If you have files and things... The last thing you want to do is have large pieces of furniture storing things... I would suggest putting a shelf all the way round the top of the wall but far enough from the ceiling height to allow for storing files etc... Paint the shelf white all the way around and even buy white files... Or boxes... that way you can store out of your eye view and still find what you need.. This free's up the space so you can make it appear bigger than it is... If the walls are not partition then you can add more weight just remember the raw plugs!!... Get really good brackets, Ikea do some lovely wooden ones No need to paint those.. I'd say 3 per shelf length of a m2 length & continue all round the walls to the window but not over unless there is the height above.... The other thing is that if you want a stylish office room. Get a good chair and you can get a table and shelf combo that leans up against the wall... See images... One of them is from Houzz! I love them both though... You get more floor space which in turn lends to a tranquil working environment... . : ))...See Morecolour dilemma for guestroom
Comments (12)Hi Anne, I so happy you like it. You told me that this bedroom have enough natural light so, the dramatic look would be perfect. I am agree with you, next step star painting the walls, painting furniture, choose the fabrics and the last lights and complements. When you have the essential would be easier to put the right complements. Anyway, about the mirror some advices: 1. Try to put the on the floor, don't worry it is not big enough maybe the result is good. You can put the existent mirror and then in front of it put another smaller. 2. Look the picture on the right hand, if you find an antic baul or box, put it with the mirror on. 3. If you don't like the option of the mirror on the floor, put them on the console (like in the picture) with more mirrors or frames and in the other side of the bed you can put the floor lamp, a stool with antic books, plant and boxes on the floor. 4. Another idea, remove the cello and put it near console (cello-console-bed) I hope you have space for this. And the armchair in the corner where the cello was with the mirror on the floor. Put in front of it another small like I told you before. These are just ideas, I think when you start with the decoration, it will be easier. If you need help when you are running with the work, contact me. And also, send some pictures with the result :)...See More(Urgent)What colour furniture should I put in my guestroom ?
Comments (20)Hi Kit Kat. Personally I think the stark black and white everywhere must be horrible to live with, very visually disturbing. It must be a very old traditional cottage so I can see why your husband might insist on keeping it as is. Use the Houzz image search or Pinterest to search for limed oak cottage interiors and build up a gallery of images that could illustrate to him how much softer it would look without all that black! Removing the black would give the most authentic finish but might be a total nightmare to do, often people have to have them blasted in situ (expensive and very messy!). If he still won’t listen then it may seem odd but painting the walls a darker tone (closer to black) would help with the jarring contrast! I like your ideas four poster etc but I think that room is too small for anything like that. You could find some richly patterned fabric for the curtains and hang some as a headboard. Best of luck with changing your husbands mind, you are right though, stick to your guns!...See MoreBig guestroom wall dilemma (also, should I keep this mirror?) :)
Comments (10)Thanks for the comments! @Daisy England, there will be a desk there, just a nicer and a smaller one. @Fiona Cochran, I am not sure if I am brave enough to paint the entire room the same colour :D but will give it some thought. The mirror does sound more than just a little out of place, I just like it for some strange reason, but it doesn't fit anywhere! I should take this as a hint. @wallsauce this looks really interesting, but I am not sure how it would look on a wall where there are bog-standard white doors as well....See Moredecoenthusiaste
