Really the cladding, what type of wood is it?

I'm having a hard time finding the right cladding for my project. I love the colour of the decking and cladding on the walls. What kinds of wood have you used??

Hi, Thank you for your message. On this project we have used Western Red Cedar (left untreated) on the walls and IPE for the decking.

I like the natural colour fade of the cedar when left untreated. We're about to build a deck and had planned to use cedar too and I love the look of this. Please could you let me know where you sourced the Western Red Cedar? Thank you!

I have had lots of nice comments on my house. Thanks everyone. I would add that I love the 1970's houses the big windows and open concept groovy style. However, the technology to pull it off wasn't quite there when they were built. If you are updating a 1970's house think about how you can introduce more insulation. I did the following: - internally insulated external walls with 10cm of wool. - insulated between floors (keeps things warm and prevents sound) - installed triple glazing and insulated behind the cladding. My heating bills are now minimal

It looks like natural wood as I can see it silvering. Accoya is available in a number of stains and does not silver (as it is not a 100% natural product). I also dislike silvering wood and prefer the look of it maintained in a stain. I like the look of burned Larch. It has texture and a deep colour. Eucalyptus is a hardwood and keeps its colour well, but is pricy.

Thank you so much, Oana, also your husband and friend. I am going to trust them and take their advice that liming wax is not the best solution for the bench. Also, my thanks to all of you who tried to guess... I will ask our very knowledgeable painter-decorator what would be the best way to take care of this beauty and let you know. I’ll leave you now with a pic of our deck where I’ve just used some of the other things I found in the barn to “make it pretty” :))
