Help with 70s exterior - windows/porch?
Comments (8)Hm... it's a tricky one - I can't see that fancy windows or replacing the cladding would make it much better. I think the problem with the looks is more down to the shape of the dormers and the house in general + it's proportions rather than the materials used on the outside. The porch won't help in the looks department either. I think you're doing what you can - keeping it clean and tidy - and the grass looks very well maintained. I would just try to accept the outside and concentrate my efforts on making the interiors extra pretty....See MoreFew Ideas for this large 80s house & exterior modernisation, Input?
Comments (5)I think you need to look at the cost of the glass veranda as it is likely to be more expensive than the render that you say you can't afford. I am also not convinced it is going to look better because of the proposed flat roof on the bay- you could always get rid of the bay and have a plain window instead. Personally I think that you make the lounge lighter by adding light reflecting paving/ chippings/ pond outside the bay. You can also likely make the room feel lighter by changing the flooring in the room for paler. I really like the double front doors but glass doors would of course let in more light. I think replacing the digits and facials will make very little difference to the feel of the house and should be the last job you do not the first. If it were my house I would be more concerned about the windows above the front door. Personally I would perhaps have just one window here and if another window is necessary put in a velux above. Lastly you write about wanting to update the house.... do you like the style of this era.... if not perhaps you should be thinking about changing the window proportions or covering the brick even though this may not currently be in budget?...See Moreupdating exterior of 70s bungalow. Comments (5)I think your bungalow looks lovely with the painted window frames and the purple and white plants in the front garden. I‘m not sure renewing the guttering would be a priority for me, unless they needed replacing. It all looks pretty good to me but you could perhaps consider painting it the same colour as the window frames. Looking at your garage mock-up I would say this needs some more thought. Imho this could look much better. Admittedly I wouldn’t know how, but I’m sure the clever people here will come up with some nice ideas....See More70s house exterior suggestions
Comments (0)We’ve lived in this house for years and have never touched the outside! Please can you give me some ideas, particularly regarding the porch area. I have no idea what to, I think just some sort of canopy over the front door but no clue on styles or designs. Door and windows will remain. Any suggestions gratefully received, thanks....See MoreSarah Pollard
