The only time I came near professional photography was when the school photographer showed up and you had ONE chance to produce a winning smile that would hopefully result in an adorable picture. I failed so many times...
Some families however, are pros. They get professional family photos taken every year and have beautiful pictures to display around the home.
Are you one of them? Do you hire a professional photographer or do you take pictures yourself?

Comments (41)IKEA is great for anyone starting out, furnishing a rental property or just not sure what they want. It may not be the best "last for ever" quality, but it does the job, looks reasonable and can be mixed with other pieces over time. It tends to be good quality for the money. Tastes change over time and while my parents invested as much as they could in the furniture they bought, as they wanted it to last a lifetime, I prefer to think I will be able to change and update easily in the future. Comments (18)I do feel for you, a similar thing has happened where I live. Two storey flats overlooking pensioners bungalows. Privacy has gone and light is reduced. Complaints were put in, a petition was put in but 42 flats brings in a lot of revenue for the local council. The value of our property has dropped as a result of this - I paid a premium to buy the place as we were not overlooked at all previously. It is heart breaking and soul destroying, one of the neighbours succumbed to the depression and has now been taken into care. A chap moved into the upper flat across the road from me and as the flats are so close I can see he has a mole the size of a new penny on his left shoulder!! Scuze me for passing on this rather personal information - that is how close the flats are and the lack of privacy on both sides. Comments (28)Look up house stagers in the directory. They help people declutter. There are professional organisers too. if you are time poor, take some annual holiday leave to get it done. Take photos of 3/4 of the children's masterpieces. Then get rid of them. Keep 1/4 , only the best. Keep a few A grade school projects. Flat artworks take up the least amount of space. Keep one 3d project (eg diorama) for each child, photograph and turf the rest when they are at school. Keep a selection of the baby stuff, photograph and donate the rest. You must give these saved things to the kids when they are settled in their own homes. Keep the symbols of family ceremonies, the candles, wedding costume, certificates, baby outfit or shawl etc from it. Comments (11)The trouble is that if you move the toilet to the right hand side and have it side on, there won't be enough room between it and the bath. You need to provide all the dimensions, so where the window is, and the height of it from the floor, the position and width of the door etc. The only way to not see the toilet as you walk in, would be to have it on the 'door' wall, and that probably is not possible due to the pipework needed. Do you want a bath ( i presume so for the kids ), There's not much room for a re-jig on the position of everything. As you see moving the loo isn't really going to work: Plus it changes the amount of room left for a basin and mirror plus the towel rad. Depending on the position of the window, we could explore putting the bath under the window, the toilet on the right etc ............but that would also be dependant on the position of the doorway, and / or if it can be moved at all....See MoreTony McIntyre

9 years agoI'm a big fan of the 15 spaces photo frames from ikea and fill them with ( unprofessional) pics I've taken of my kids. If there's one I really like, I'll get it put onto canvas when Photobox run their offers. This pic is of my eldest and youngest son and the eldest took it on his phone.
