Depending on how far you budget goes, I would look at adding traditional cornice and pelmet and replacing the plinth with a similar oyster colour. End panels for wall units could also be replaced / added. Some chessboard style tilling in 3 colours would also bring out the walls. It's hard to tell but is the oak surround also on the wall units? I haven't checked your location but this is something we can help with

Hello Minnie, There will be the hallway and some in the bedroom. Yes gee whizz, I prefer to design than actually do in this case. Painting I find enjoyable but papering definitely not so much. Your sons room sounds quite a difficulty so gr8 for you that you managed, and I can definitely see how you would feel a sense of achievement. I do feel quite pleased with how it all ties in. I also just used a paint brush to brush it all and no plumb line.. Normal scissors and a sense of urgency.. Yes the size was quite a dramatic feeling. It's not a small room I don't think, and it's just as it is shot wise but the dark on dark made the whole thing feel larger and more elegant. The paper is Oreste Carbon by Zoffany. Thank you yes the tapes on the frames, I do like a mix of old and new and I use my picture rails so I thought it a good way of showing. Ah the lamp .. It's broken in 3 places and held together with glue and plumbing seals.. It was from Graham and Green but over 10 years ago. Never seen anything like it since, not sure if somewhere like eBay would have something similar.. and it's rather tricky on uneven boards. I have a large marble weight that sits on its base as the counter balance doesn't really allow for anything but the most even of flooring. Got a few flowers from Oka and thank you for telling me, I did look in my emails to find code. Waiting for a payment for a day from October so should not have really. It's one of those things where you have to buy a few at a time for several months till you can achieve a really fantastic display. Yes Bob has her ways but so gorgeous I try to give her things and the door mat is a good one too but somehow... Like the sound of the book that may have to go on my list.. Love the veggie lunch.. I am down to chicken occasionally and fish regularly. will be looking for a recipe for the stained glass biscuits.. :))

My kitchen refit starts 3 weeks today but won't be finished until next year when I have decided on the splash backs. This has been a project 2 years in the making due to several builders agreeing to do the work only to never hear from them again & also some very poor service from kitchen shops. Finally I have a builder on board who will move a doorway to accommodate the new position for my fridge freezer and fit a Second Nature kitchen in elm that is to replace an old cream shaker one. Most of the appliances are staying as they are newish but for the first time I will have a dishwasher, a wall mounted oven so I can see what is cooking & a Franke under mounted corner sink which was a brand new ebay bargain. I am switching from gas to a white induction hob that will hopefully fit seamlessly into white quartz countertops. I am so excited, all this in a 2.6m x 2.8m kitchen. I have also asked the countertop peeps to smooth off an additional piece of quartz to fit the sink aperture so I can use that as additional work space. I am boring my boyfriend with endlessly searching for the best deals on things and trying my luck haggling which is not usually like me but lots of fun! I can't help but speculate that perhaps the reason so many houses featured are London based or more high-end properties is because most of the case studies are uploaded by architecture or design professionals who employ professional photographers to show off the finished results. These services aren't cheap and I don't imagine these companies get too many requests from owners of smaller 30's - 70's era homes, especially from outside the capital, because the homeowners won't see a return on the investment. I would have thought requesting design-savvy home owners load more of their own photo's would help bridge the gap. Perhaps on the next newsletter you can ask homeowners to consider contributing any photos of spaces they are particularly proud of?
