Recessed down-lights or spotlights for kitchen?
Comments (4)For me recessed lighting allows you to specifically target certain areas of the kitchen where light is needed more easily and provides a much neater solution....See MoreOpen Plan Lighting Advice Welcomed :)
Comments (3)I agree that's you need multiple light sources. In my opinion when you are sat on the sofa of an evening you need table lamps to watch Tv and just enough of a glow from the kitchen that you can find the fridge to pour more wine. When you have guests at the dining table I think you need need an overhead decorative pendant or chandelier on a dimmer to set the right mood but you also need to be able to turn it up if you are working from home and using that table. I would only have the spots in the kitchen area- probably 6 or 8 will be plenty. Put them on a dimmer too and then add over cabinet and under cabinet light...See MoreWhite Silestone Quartz recessed drainer or not and staining
Comments (9)I advise my customers not to bother and have the extra worktop space and use a tea towel or mat to put any washing up on. The grooves don't have enough fall in them to drain the water away so it just sits there and you get lime scale build up and they're harder to clean up. With the recessed drainer again the water will just sit there as there isn't the fall to drain the water away but the water won't drip over the edge. Again you lose so much worktop having this and its an additional cost, much more expensive than just the grooves. I think your installer is giving you good advice. Quartz is 100% sealed compared to granite and marble, but i'd still be careful and clear up any spills especially anything acidic and also not put hot pans on it, don't use it as a chopping board with sharp knives etc and it will look as good as new for years to come....See MoreBora Induction Hob - Recessed
Comments (17)Luke, are you still here? if so a few questions. I have just had my PUXA hob fitted flush in a Quartz worktop which is white. As in the pics above, there are very tiny 'chips' in the cut edge of the quartz. Would a black sealant not accentuate these, and would white not be preferable, as at least the glass edge of the hob is perfectly straight so the sealant would be less obvious? Also is this OTTO stuff Ok to use on Quarrtz as this is not natural? Thanks...See MoreP & P Maintenance Services
