The floating headboard with nightstands is a separate product from the platform storage bed and cubby bench which are also shown in this photo.

OK so this is what I am now thinking. Paint the wall behind my bedhead with large chevrons in two shades of white. Move the frames to the wall where the birdcages are (and get rid of decals), spread them out at about eye height above my bed and make them more uniform (put monochrome pictures in them and paint some of them more neutral colours). Paint that wall a slightly lighter colour than it is now - maybe a creme beige colour? Paint the window wall in the darker of the two chevron wall colours. Put my nightstand the other side of my bed and get an orange lamp and turquoise clock to put on it. Grab a few cushions to put on my bed. Find something pretty and large to put in the corner of my room - maybe a chair or pot plant? This would mean all three walls would be different... would that look strange? Also I could do with doing something about my window, I don't really want to splash out on new curtain pole and curtains but at the moment I can't shut the blind because of my vintage globe & frames etc on the sill! Maybe I should just move the junk elsewhere? Thanks for your ideas everyone - keep them coming! I am terrible at making decisions - and I am also terrible at liking what I have done, I always want to improve everything :-\

Bellesum, thank you very much for the suggestions. Sounds lovely, however, this is an area for the dog when we are at work and at night, so we would not want to close this off. Can I just say thank you for all the input into the finishing touches. Didn't think we would be building more furniture here, but loving the idea of the bench, really excited about getting him to start making this! I will slowly wear him down r.e painting the radiator cover, as agree that in cream it would look better. This will take time though lol Just to ask further :) the doors, this is a temporary fix. This house was a real tip when we moved in, and some temporary fixes have been put in place i.e eyesores that I could not live with and know will take time to get round too, so needed to make ok. I like the door, but my hubby doesn't, I take on-board what has been said by JPP221 - if you have any suggestions for this, please say. Thank you again x

Well, maybe when the kitchen stuff is out you can try different options (ones you want to try) in the wardrobe area and see what you like best. (Actually, there isn't that much stuff next to wardrobe.....up to you, though. Hmmmm. In the meantime, I think you could look for hardware for the cabinets and something for the end of the bed that isn't green.

Hi Nicola you have a lovely room. you can give it a really luxury look by stretching curtains from wall to wal and grazing the floor. ikeas kvartal track system is great for that. i have same lay out and small window like you,so i used a double track and used identical designlcurtains in complimenting shades (latte and cream). my cream part stretches from one wall to next and the latte frames the edges. each latte side is a third of the width. so i can have many beutiful options. either have cream fully closed, latte framing on each side, or have latte gathered with tie back for this type of look, but because the cream hangs right under the latte you cannot see the wall and looks very finished. this looks particularly good in the evening, the window is dressed and pretty but noone can see thru. when the cream is open its also very nice, you see nice contrast betweenthe two. i also want to hang net curtains full width and length as cream and add one more rack (its very easy to add, but you can buy triple one too), just not done that yet. my curtains are 270 cm long. i also bought ikea hanging hooks and created beautiful even pleats it my originally pencil pleat curtains. looks like i paid a fortune to get them made. the hooks only cost £3 a pack. i dont have a pic to post but the curtain is a lined voile, its very airy and light. bought on amazon, its called rimini by curtina. but im sure you can do same with ikea curtains by pairing two shades. they have some lovely light grays and whites in few diff options!lightweight curtains dont stop the heat fromentering the room and the track is very easy to fit. it also has an option of rounded end rail for a real luxe look! worth looking into and ill try post a pic. rebecca
