Unusual hole in wall in my new house

There is a glass-less window in the wall that allows light from the skylight in the lounge through to the kitchen. It used to be very long, but was partially bricked up to allow for kitchen cabinets. Now it's just a hole. Wondering whether to have it bricked up, or make a feature of it - and if so, how? I'm planning on a separate skylight in the kitchen, so light to the kitchen isn't a consideration.
