how do you stop the tv getting hot? friends tv brackets melted

My friend has a tv above her fire, whilst watching tv it fell off the wall as the heat from the fire melted the brackets. I love the idea of having a tv and fire together, but please can you advise on how the tv is kept cool. Thank you

Hi. The gas fireplace is a glass fronted unit so this keeps the heat from rising up the front of the fireplace. It is set in a hollow 'false' breast that also has high level vents on either side. This allows the heat to escape from inside the boxing out. The fireplace unit is from 'Bellfires Ltd'. Hope that helps.

I thought I'd update everyone as to what we settled on as most of you won't have seen the finished post. Went went for Little Greene French Pale Grey on the walls and then a Grey Quartz worktop which had worked quite well. To stop it from being clinical, we opted for some textured wallpaper in the dining area which is Bala Storm (I think) from John Lewis. We then added some natural tones using a wooden table, and then Vitra chairs. Along with wooden fruit bowl etc. The main window will have wooden venetian blinds, and the bay windows will probably be done in a darker grey material as the perfect fit style blinds you find in conservatories

Netflix & BBCi satisfies our TV desires between them. On demand viewing suits our lifestyle and binge watching happens when we just cant wait for the next episode. Netflix has loads of movies and some great quality drama's, particularly their own productions. It is excellent value, working out to 20p per day. Sadly, although they still have some good stuff, BBC is getting more trashy year on year.

Thanks so much everyone, it's been great to read the ideas. Eletyadams - what a fantastic unit - this is the sort of style I love and think would fit in with the decor and style of the property. I wonder whether it would work in a soft white to match the dado and not clash with the oak flooring? Firtreecottage - I agree something not fixed would be better. We have a mirror tv at the end of our bath. Used it about 4 times in 5 years!! Even the kids don’t use it. Wouldn’t bother honestly. They also echo in the bathroom due to the tiles & the way the speakers are (waterproof) sounds tinny, not like watching standard tv. Although may be better quality ones now. It could ruin the aesthetics of a beautiful Burlington bathroom? That in itself is the feature. Your house - your rules!
