Bedside for renovated bedroom

Hello! We've just finished renovating our spare bedroom, restoring features from our late Georgian house. Seem to have come out a bit Art Deco with the fireplace and light but we're really stuck for bedside lamp and table ideas! I want to add a bit of a twist, maybe something industrial or contemporary with feature lamps or should we just keep the whole room traditional feel? Looked at hundreds of lamps/tables and nothing feels quite right! A small bench and rug will go near the fireplace window and a big Scottish landscape painting over the bed but not sure what to do around the bed! Thanks!

9 years agoThe top of the bed will look beautiful with a huge piece of artwork and a scottish landscape sounds gorgeous. We feel that with the height and space of the room, a small table lamp will just get swallowed up, and we'd personally go for a beautiful floor lamp such as these from Made.com and John Lewis.
If you did like these, then it may be worth seeing if you can get a custom built side table that allows the arm to extend through it, almost like a centre piece.

9 years agoBeautiful room. If you are adding the landscape I would personally extend on the Art Deco style. Add mirrored bedside, rug and lamp. If budget allows (given restoration is complete) maybe consider hanging Art Deco style pendants very low over the bedside to add a contemporary touch as space is limited? Oriental lacquer cabinets may also work well in georgian houses.

Comments (14)Hello I am currently working on a similar project, here are few ideas: By adding paneling and mirrors with side tables and lamps, you will add height to your bedroom. I will be adding the sliding mirror doors on each side of the bed for my client, your door frames are currently very distinctive as the wallpaper is rather dark, it will be less visible with lighter colour on the wall, but I do agree taking of the frame altogether would solve the issue. Comments (5)Looks like a good solid bed. Good idea to have the wardrobes painted, they look good apart from the colour and the handles (sorry). Could be worth changing them. Re bedside tables, I’m generally not a great fan of matching them (to the bed), but feel this is personal preference and getting mismatching right is not easy. Comments (6)That’s good news, could be expensive otherwise! I was just a little worried a super king could be too big. I’d draw the room to scale on graph paper and do the same for the furniture you want but cut it out and try it around the room. Re shopping, the chair and rug were Oka ( a lot is out of stock atm but they do some really good cushions and lamps too.). The chest and bedside were by Feather and Black, the blank box also by sofa. Com. The lamp was by Loaf and the blind fabric was Susie Watson (also do accessories etc). Pooky also do a number of good lights and lamps. It may also be worth looking at Neptune. Cox and Cox are mainly scandi but I think you’d like some of their things....See Moreminnie101
