Hi. I agree with One Plan. It really depends if you want blue as your accent colour or not though. You could add a shade of purple or green curtains which would work with the rug and walls. I think a lavender grey is lovely. Or you could go for neutrals. Just be careful of dark curtains if the room struggles for light. You could also opt for floral or striped with the rug if wanted, personally I like a plain fabric. Or stick with the blue curtains and use a shade of orange as accents for cushions etc. Or just use different shades of blue with cream. There are lots of choices as the grey and the rug really is quite neutral.

Are you completely set on the Brompton from next? I don't think it goes with the rug. The rug is very ethnic-looking and informal. The sofa has a very tradition shape. Something more informal and squidgy would work better. Colour-wise along the lines of what you picked would work nicely. I would lean towards a natural fabric, e.g. linen to achieve a more coherent look.

I found a manufacturer called 'Kasthall' http://www.kasthall.com/en/products who make beautiful rugs of the type I was looking for but they are pricey (5k). I ended up not being able to stomach that and opted for (as suggested by Man About The House and Carolina) a Louis de Poortere carpet, which they bound/edged for me. https://www.louisdepoortere.be/miuccia.html The carpet is very thin, comfortable and high quality and it ended up being much cheaper than a rug (£1500). Thanks for the suggestions - you were spot on.
