Need advice for a design of a dark living room
Our living room is north facing and has a large french window at the end of the room. As a result of this the other corner (open plan kitchen) is dark. Attached photos are with and without lights.
We want to buy L shaped sofa (light colour) in the middle, hang the TV on a wall and place the dining tabe to the end of the room.
Would appreciate for your advise on paint colours which would supplement the kitchen and lighten up the room a bit.

Comments (3)Hi, I think you have to sort of ignore the speakers, from a design point of view. Even though they are big black objects, so is your TV. They are there for a reason. I think you need to focus on what you'd like for the floor, sofa, curtains, media unit and wall colour. The floor, walls and sofa are the largest surfaces in your room. I would personally prefer a wooden and/or white media unit, wood (effect) floor, medium to light coloured sofa and medium/light coloured walls. You could consider painting the TV wall in a darker colour, so the TV and speakers won't stand out too much. For example: I know these speakers are smaller, but it would also work with your larger ones. It's everything but the speakers that makes this a cosy room. If you know what I mean :-)...See More

4 years agohi It's Darek from Pro Finish Decorating .I am also a decorative artist. you have lots of options there ,first of all I make shoure you pick a color where you can change chades from light to dark. I find like the kolor of the kitchen . The thing is if you buy new softer it will have to match . so I would go for light colour. You can always paint the kitchen that will change the look defeetly.
My idea is see a show flat we did for Heals speaks for it self .Or to wallpaper the wall opposite the kitchen .and paint the rest with mirror or hang wallpaper on the wall opposite TV . I you ask me I would do bouth walls with wallpaper and bouth with mirror should look good . and on the TV wall use a matching color to everything.
