how do i decorate a new place with my boyfriend that suits us both?
Comments (5)Hello Jessica, It's a very considered question..Well for a start is your boyfriend happy for you to unleash your creative spirit? He may well be happy for you to create a home for both of you.. If he wants to be part of the process then really it is a question of tastes... Do you both like similar styles? You may already know if you both have similar views or style likes.. Why not start with the furnishings you may have or the pieces you may have both discussed that you are thinking of purchasing.. You can get get an idea of how interested he actually is, when it comes to colours and furniture and also an idea of similar your choices are.. On a practical note.. When it comes to functions of rooms, do you both share similar interests.. This will also be a good way to decide on a look and needs of each room.. Also is the chap in question going to be doing the work or some of the work? So experience is a factor here to consider as well for anything you might want and to do.. Have you been to a few showrooms or discussed appliances, large pieces of furniture which may dictate the choices of the smaller pieces.. I'd tend to think the larger pieces are a good start... Sofa, Bed, Wardrobe, Mirrors...and Function! The other thing is the place in question of course... Will this dictate a particular "look" this might help with the overall aesthetic of the interior. What I would say is choose things that will have lasting appeal.. If you need to think of the house, flat, apartment as an art palette and layer it up as you go along so you get a feel of it, then that is also a good idea.. : ))...See MoreHow do I decorate my guest bedroom?
Comments (15)Hi. Nice paper but as the room is east facing the silver may look just a little cold? If you do go for a pale but warm stone on the walls I might go for a stone wallpaper. This one is cream but may work as the pattern looks to be in stone (but will look elsewhere). I really like the idea of papering just behind the bed (missed that before, thought you just meant the bed ŵall!) but I do think you'll need to build a frame for it from beading but that will be cheap to do. I wouldn't go excessively low on the light just for people sitting up/climbing into bed but you should get away with slightly lower than normal. If you're after damask this may work from bhs plus it's on offer atm and it's an easy fit if you were still thinking along those lines http://www.homebase.co.uk/en/homebaseuk/premier-province-wallpaper---cream-144790 http://www.bhs.co.uk/en/bhuk/product/home-lighting-furniture-2565866/ceiling-lights-2809354/easy-fit-2805454/mocha-jemima-easy-to-fit-ceiling-light-5113620?bi=1&ps=40&qbDiscount=20#BVRRWidgetID...See MoreWhat colour should I do the three remaining walls of my bedroom?
Comments (18)Hi Kathryn I have a range of 200 colours that we can choose from and you can test without having to buy test pots. If you are near enough I could bring them over - I'm based in Cambridgeshire and travel throughout the county and adjoining counties. Let me know if you are in my patch and we can organise a visit....See MoreWhat colour/finish should I do on this table - my first project!
Comments (1)Hi. Just been browsing Pinterest and remembered your post. Did you buy the table? It’s very classical, think they refer to it as a regency style drum table. If you plan to re paint a different colour there’s no need to strip it, just sand lightly and paint over the top. I don’t think you’d be able to restore it to its original glory tho, looks like it had a leather top which has been scraped off. So many ways you could decorate it tho. Here’s some ideas:...See MoreTom Flanagan
