Who made these French doors and windows?
Comments (3)Those doors and sash windows are lovely, we're not sure who made them but we could make something very similar. All our timber projects are bespoke and we can paint them in a factory finish to match any colour you like. We do traditional lead weighted sash windows too so if you like the windows next to the doors these could also be made. All our doors and windows are double glazed, we used toughened glass and the doors all have multi point locking systems for high security. If you are interested in getting a quote you can either message us on Houzz or contact us on: admin@timbermaster.co.uk or call us on 01788577112. We would just need the opening measurements and your postcode. thanks....See MoreThoughts please! Could this look work with my final kitchen design?
Comments (46)Ikea Kitchens are excellent, the attention to quality is superb. Lots of suppliers only offer doors in particular sizes, which is why when you go to an appointment at Wickes for example and you then take it to Howdens, they often have to swap the cabinets around as they don't all do all the sizes. Factoring in that you may want to change the doors in a few years at this point is in my opinion daft. You buy a kitchen and it should last 10-15 years. Magnet and Howdens offer great kitchens too. However, I have personal experience of fitting an Ikea Kitchen last year and was very impressed. I've used Howdens several times too. There are many companies however, that offer custom sizes when ordering replacements such as Kitchen door workshop and Kitchen Door Outlet to name but two. Saying that you can't replace the doors, just simply isn't accurate....See MorePlease help me. I'm so torn. Split 90sqm flat into two or not?
Comments (9)Hi Dalida, Congratulations on having this interesting apartment and for your project idea! I think that regardless of what you choose in the end, you’ll have a beautiful space. I completely understand what you mean regarding the second access point. It can become a problem with the neighbours but also, it wouldn’t be as lovely to come “home” via that route, amongst the smell coming from the bins (if I understood correctly). From what I see from your plans, you could still very well divide the two if you wanted to. You can keep the main access for both flats, but that would mean having a smaller flat/studio. However, I noticed that in the first two rooms next to the main entrance (which I assume would be a studio/flat in itself) that you have a high interior height (3.56m). There is more than enough space to develop the space vertically if you wanted to. You could divide the space into 2 and have the bedroom upstairs. I think you already have something similar in one of your plans. This could work wonderfully as you could still have 2 separated flats and the hallway could act as access for both spaces (no need to access via the bins route). One thing that might be worth thinking about, if you do opt to divide the space, is to move the bathroom position so that you can connect it with the new bathroom in the smaller flat(have them on both sides of the wall that will be dividing the 2 flats). It’s always easy (if possible), to have all pipes towards on main water point. It reduces the length that pipes need to "travel" to reach the bathroom, hence saving some money. Plus, your plumber might be happier having everything close to each other, easier to work with. To be honest, I don't know where your current main water point is in the space, maybe it's not possible. But worth a thought. Hope this helps! Best of luck!...See MoreHelp me design a front door step (new photos added)
Comments (14)We had a similar situation, but with a gas pipe running under the door sill, (ie just above where your air grate is) We built a step with a foundation layer of bricks, but leaving a gap where the pipe was. This gap was then bridged using a large paving stone on top of the bricks, which overhung the gap. No pics available, as was removed for subsequent works, but it ended up looking much like the one in Sonia's pic above. (Was fine for the gas pipe, not sure if air access would be sufficient for an air grate)...See MoreClopay
