what you’re glad you have/wish you’d had in your family home?
Comments (10)Decent sized bedrooms are good at any age - as younger children size is useful to accommodate toys and as teenagers they’re more likely to spend more time in their rooms so perhaps making them large enough for a small seating area as well would be good. Similarly, a separate ‘living’ space downstairs is also useful as a play room when they’re younger & somewhere for relaxing / games room when they’re older. We’re not keen on our children having the x box in their rooms do having an extra space downstairs for that is useful. A laundry room or utility is useful for all the extra washing children create to avoid having it all around the house on wet days. Garden size possibly depends on amenities close to you (parks, etc) but personally feel that as large a garden as possible really helps with primary age children. We chose our current house partly because of the garden size & style - plenty of lawned area. Our last garden was tiered with decks & patios - great for adult socialising but nowhere big enough to kick a ball. Bathrooms - a bath in at least one with shower over (or shower attachment) for hosing children down if necessary!...See MoreHave you recently done your bathroom or doing so? We'd love to hear!
Comments (4)1.. Did you go through a showroom for design and install? no. 2. How did you first approach the project?? Did you go to multiple showrooms and outlets to look get a scope of the market or maybe look online? I copied a hotel bathroom I had liked as well as a picture from Houzz 2. Did you measure the bathroom yourself? No. If no, would you be confident in measuring your bathroom yourself? No 3. Had you heard of any bathroom manufacturers or companies before you started research to do your own bathroom? No 4. Did you need a lot of help on the layout and design and bathroom? The builders planned it 5. If you were guaranteed by hundreds of customers that the quality was excellent + the manufacturers own guarantee would you still want to touch, feel and see the product before buying it - if you were supplied images like the images at the bottom?? See proposed vs real Would go with reviews 6. What do you wish you had / hadn't done? Happy with it as it is, though wish I'd got my own tiler and not used the builder's 7. What do you love about your bathroom? The big bath, the power shower, the space 8. The first 2 images below are renders, which would you find easier to use to decide, the images below or a panoramic images found here - https://www.desiign.co.uk/visualise-desiign 8. Did you ever feel under pressure and unsure where to turn during the process? Pressured to buy in one store. As the market is so broad a lot of people are sceptical due to the different price points? 9. Did you go over budget? No 10. Lastly, overall, are you happy with the end result baring in mind the journey as well? Any other words also put here! Delighted with it....See MoreWhat you think about extension layout we have completed recently ?
Comments (6)When considering an extension we were advised not to have the doors at the back. The reason being was that the extension wasn’t big enough and therefore you run the risk that you simply create a corridor to the garden....I imagine may be the same reason for having the bifolds on the side for this one?...See MoreHow much cracking to expect after having an extension built?
Comments (5)When moving into a new property we were told to expect movement and the potential of cracks appearing over the first two years so advised if we did paint any walls to keep some spare. We did get some guidance from the housin association, where if the size cracks were over a certain width that they would look to investigate it but that never became an issue and we only had minor hairline cracks appear on one side of the ground floor which were easy to fix ourselves with filler, a quick sand and re-paint. If the builder and architect have advised that they are nothing to worry about I’d take their advice, this is a really common occurrence for any newely built // extended property and 9 times out of 10 nothing to be concerned about....See MoreAngela Niño
