Hi, can you tell me what manufacturer hardware is used for the overhead track on the sliding door? Looks terrific, btw. Thanks!

Seen this and given the date i think you will have sorted. But anyway..... Th idea of sliding folding doors is great. The technical quality has got much better over the years and they seal so well - better now than sliding (except if you spend huge amounts of money) They stack smaller (and therefore can blend more) than large folding/hinged. My view would be that you should have a smaller hinged door somewhere close to for quick/easy access

Hi Gina, I specify IKEA a lot, so I know what you are looking for. One of my clients recently introduced me to this company called "sliding wardrobe world" - I haven't used them personally but they said they were very nice and very practical. I would definitely have a look at their stuff - its very different to IKEA in that you have "flexible pieces" such as the rails which can be adjusted to fit the space. Sliding doors or French doors

French doors are lovely, especially in a period home, but they do need space to open out into the garden. I had that dilemma too as my lower patio is quite small and French doors would have hit the garden furniture outside. I decided on sliders and I’m glad I did. They are our back door! They are very secure and the locking mechanism locks in 6 places so would be impossible to lift out. Of course a burglar could smash the glass to get in but that would create a hell of a racket. My sliders are 6 ft wide. I’m not so sure about removing your access gates, even with a resident permit. People do love off road parking so a bonus when or if you ever sell the house.
