Mood LED lighting (colour wash) on glass kitchen splash backs

I am considering using mood LED lighting (colour wash) on my glass kitchen splash backs but am not sure what colour to make the glass? Could it be a smokey grey or would that ruin the effect of the LED lights? The units and worktops where the splashback will go are cream. The units in the island opposite are grey, also with a cream worktop, so I don't think white glass would work. If not grey, then would a cream splashback work or would it be too much cream? what colour do you suggest for the glass?
