Contemporary mixed with oriental!
Comments (69)Hello comegetme.. the pics are really coming along.. I do feel the red is too prominent with the calmer colours in the room... I would personally try to find something that offers "red" but not quite in such a bold way.. Unless the rear wall was red too... I like the bottom version but the sofa and chair still stand out too much.. I think layering with throws is fine, maybe a beige and a colour that accents the walls of said bottom image.. .. Over 1 side to break up the brown is all you need to do.. Maybe a little table lamp in red too and you have the cushions.. Looking good! : ))...See MoreA lounge with a more contemporary feel
Comments (12)Definitely. You can inject contemporary feel in the space through a selection of pieces and elements. The wall paint, if you paint the glass doors as well, will be the first step towards more contemporary look. Then I would choose 1/ lighting - statement contemporary ceiling pendant (not glam or glass, but more timeless, modern - check our voga.com for example), nice tall table lamps - a pair of them on either side of sofa to define the height, symmetry and balance and/or contemporary floor lamp for a reading corner which you can create on one side of the sofa or armchair. 2/ art, 3/ rug and 4/ coffee table (if you have a space for it). These 3 or 4 will be the game-changers. What you have to remember is that the existing pieces you won't be removing don't necessarily shout contemporary but you can achieve a contemporary feel through the smaller things - the details. I would research the products, if I were you, including art, rug, cushions, lighting and put a plan together. That way you could see how the space would look. In terms of the coffee table and materials, calacatta marble, white polished surfaces and finishes on furniture, metals such as nickel or gold (e.g. for picture frames, trims etc.) would be my first options to look at. Eliminate the rest, unless you can't find anything. Hope this helps....See MoreNeed help on flooring for Edwardian house with contemporary extension
Comments (21)Hi AR, Tiles/Wood effect tiles are an option however you'd be surprised where real wood flooring can go. All our engineered/solid wood flooring is suitable for any room excluding wet rooms. The advantage over tiles is that it can be easily repaired if scratched/damaged. Also in terms of heat, if used with underfloor heating it will hold the heat for longer periods of time as tiles tend to disperse heat faster. Wood is a better natural conductor of heat as opposed to stone/tile, hence why we use them with fireplaces/barbeques etc. (please only use engineered wood flooring with underfloor heating). Not only that but if you wished to change the colour of the floor in 20-30 years it is easily done by simply sanding and applying a stain/varnish. Our flooring has been used in restaurants/bars hotels, as well as residential properties, so do not rule it out as there are many designs/styles available from standard planks, to antique boards, chevrons, Versailles panels, herringbone etc. Just have a quick look through our projects to get an idea. PROJECTS We hope this helps broaden your options, and if you need any more info do let us know and we'll be glad to help....See MoreContemporary or Traditional?
