Need help on wall colours to complement these curtains!

I am redoing our spare bedroom. I would like to create a stunning effect in what is a fairly small double room. Does anyone have ideas on both paint and headboard that would go well with these existing curtains? I plan to put the bed ire recess .

Comments (27)Update - alabaster painted oak units, oak worktop, (curved end units and worktop corners) belfast sink, 1100 stainless steel rangemaster porcelain large high gloss ivory 600x600 floor tiles, ivory grout - please see attached look book just still to decide on shade of sage on walls - deciding between F&B Mizzle, Vert De Terre, Ball Green and Cooking Apple Green... Also metro sub/way tiles on walls - whether to go for a sage tile or cream/white... The dining room area off the kitchen will have oak parquet floor which will follow through from hall and will also be in the lounge but Im thinking of following the wall colour in the kitchen through to the dining room for continuity and potentially painting the chimney brest or wall furthest away from and facing the kitchen a darker green complementary colour... Comments (10)Thank you all for your input. I need to perfect the art of closing one eye to block out other colours! I was not good at this! I think you need bigger sample cards than I used. I couldn't paint on the wall as there's currently wallpaper there. My local F&B stockist suggested Shaded White which is a nice, "safe" neutral I think and as the room is quite dark, it seems to work better than the greyer shades I was trying. I guess sometimes what you want is different from what will actually work best and Shaded White seems a good compromise. I'm delighted to have got input from you and I'll post some pictures later of items I'm considering using in the room in the hope of some more advice....See More

11 years agoThose stripes above seem wide to me, and horizontal. They might overwhelm your delicate print curtains. The taupe color idea is a great idea, too.
Here's the headboard. It's horizontal -- runs basically across an entire small room wall to complement horizontal windows above. It's neutral because the room is small and I didn't want the headboard to bring the room forward visually, so I just accented with pillows. Spread and skirt are neutral, too, to make the bed appear smaller in the room. It worked!
The headboard is about 2 inch-thick foam covered with a fabric remnant in a scrubby linen weave. You could have 2 inch-thick foam cut the whole size of your wall and then have it covered in fabric before you attach it to the wall.
