Help! Are my wall lights too high??

We have just completed a loft conversion which we will use as our master bedroom. I so want it to be our perfect room and thought putting the foscarini caboche wall lights (see attached) that I've always loved, would be a lovely feature. They are wired to be switched on from each bedside and can be dimmed. However, I'm now worried that the electrician has installed them too high. See the picture. The cover isn't on yet. To move them now would be costly as we've just painted the room, but will they always look wrong? What about adding bedside lamps or is that too much? We have a headboard but it's not a very high one (see picture). The ceiling height is 2.1m. Help!

Yes, sorry, they are far too high. It will look much better if they are brought down to be reading lights either side of the headboard. Bedside lamps and keeping them where they are will look weird. Did you specify the height to the electrician? If so, he may move them for you for no extra cost. Do you need any other electrical work doing? If so, he might be amenable to negotiating if you didn't specify the height. Even though you've just painted, and it will be a pain and frustrating to move them, it will be worth it on the end. That's my opinion anyway. Especially if this is to be your sanctuary.

I was going to suggest a picture and having seen your beautiful photos and headboard below really think it might be fine. Mark with a pencil where the headboard will be and the pictures if centred between headboard and light.

I'd say it is a little too high yes - I think a slightly smaller table would look better. If it has to stay between these two chairs, I'd advise you more the two tall objects as they further emphasise the height compared to the low chairs. Hope that helps, Lauren

No problem, Suggestions would be to keep the ceiling colour lighter than the walls, use of verticle stripes on walls (they don't have to be bold) Ceiling to floor window treatments i.e try to hang curtains/blinds as close to the ceiling as possible and yes uplights will help gloss ceilings to reflect light is also great. Hi. What kind of budget do you have? Do you have any furniture at all or a carpet? I think if you're going for a dark scheme it does tend to automatically look expensive which helps. I'd get yourself on eBay. Have only had a quick look but you can pick up a french bed cheaply (you can buy a divan base in ikea) and I'd match with marble top cabinets. The bed can be painted if need be. I might look at second hand or antique shops for a chair that you can re-cover yourself. eBay is also good for cushions in designer/high street fabrics if you plough through. Maybe try TK Max for bedding, lights etc. Sainsbury's sometime do some good accessories too. Hi Jayne. I would suggest that you use warm colours (could be ocher or earthy colours) to contrast the cold colours you want. It would also be a great idea to use a built-in closet by the entrance door to place shoes or handbags. I would also attach a countertop to your kitchen isle in order to visually separate both spaces using some nice bar stools with an industrial touch. I'll be more than happy to advise you further. Thanks for your advice. The top of the headboard is 113cm from the floor and the Middle of the lights sit 178cm from the floor. I don't think that style of light would be right sitting so low as to be next to the headboard but I was thinking a good 20cm lower than they are now?

I really think they might be fine where they are if you purposefully fill the space between bedside tables and the light so there is not just a large gap but if you want to move them you should as money and effort now will be forgotten in the long run. Make the decision your instinct is telling you.
