What's the most annoying thing your partner does?

Living with someone, no matter how much you love them, can lead to the silliest arguments. It might be a small thing such as squeezing the toothpaste from the top not the bottom, forgetting to take out the rubbish or not replacing the loo roll.

When one lost ones partners, all these little irrelevances would be welcome. Now there is to much silence and not enough to tidy up.

Got to join the herd and go with a good bed. I'd probably also add top quality linen, both reading and bedside lights, a fireplace and a quality window treatment. Access to an amazing en suite bathroom is also beneficial.....not to ask too much.

A place to immediately take your dirty boots and wet raincoat off. I've seen lots of entrances designed nicely with a thought of minimalism which had just a closed wardrobe at the opposite corner to hide your closes and shoes in, and there always 've been a problem of a pile of dirty boots near the door or a dirty footprints 'road' between a door and a shoe-washing place and puddles of water from raincoats on the way to the wardrobe. Design should be practical. Entrance is a transition room between dirty street and cozy rooms, so it has to provide smooth transition, giving you things which make your life easier and more comfortable. If it's hard for you to lace your shoes standing, it has to have a seat. If you have a big family, you need a place (it may be just a mat or kind of open shelving) near the door to take all of your shoes off. If it's rainy or snowy where you live you need some spot to let your coats dry a bit before hiding them to the wardrobe and so on. If you use umbrellas, you need a spot to put it once you enter the house... There are lots of other practical things you may need.

I once read a story about an old woman, who was listening to a younger woman complain about how her husband left his whiskers in the sink day after day. The old woman, who was a widow, softly reminded her that those whiskers meant her husband was alive and still with her. She, the older woman, would love to wash the whiskers of her husband down the drain every morning because that would mean her husband was still with her. So, when my husband leaves me stranded on the toilet with no toilet paper, instead of getting angry, I remember to be thankful he is still here to grab the last piece off the roll.

It's the LOO LID! It's a lid, lids go on boxes and tins and board games so why oh why leave the loo lid up? Answer:- Go continental - they sit! OR mention that if the lid isn't down when he flushes, germs are sprayed up and get out! OR - and listen all you parents - teach the boys that it's ok to sit, give them a comic to read and it'll be fine. In fact, give the big boys a comic too! LOL

Commonly I can't imagine what kind of thing it must be. :)
If it disturbs me, I'll put it in order, if doesn't, leave as it is.
The exception is my personal things: if somebody want to use them, they are to ask for and put back in the same place and in the same condition.

My lovely late husband always fixed shelves at a height that was perfect for him (6') leaving me ( 5'4) with a choice of jumping up and down, or dragging a ladder out to reach stuff.

Leaving the toilet seat up would be number one. leaving a totally saturated sponge on the front edge of the sink instead of squeezing it out and placing it in the space at the back of the sink specifically made for the sponge.

Leaving basin full of dirty dishwater, with sponge still in. Leaving empty packets on the kitchen worktop instead of putting them in the bin. Using white towel to mop up wood stain. Etc. But he does bring me coffee to bed every morning!

Discussing new car, holidays, redecorating and then just doing what he wants. Why waste time asking my opinion when the decision is already made? Also gets take-away coffee every morning to drink at home. When finished, he picks up cup + leaves it beside the sink? He walks past the recycle bin ( where it belongs) + places on counter above rubbish bin. Dunno. It baffles me. Think I should have been a Time + Motion Officer or Productivity Manager or whatever they're called today. BUT he brings me a cup of Kenyan tea in a china cup every morning in bed.

Folding damp towels and then laying them on a flat surface rather than hanging them out to dry, treating the dishwasher like it contained a flesh eating monster, ie refuses to load or unload it EVER and leaving bread crumbs for the magic crumb vaporiser ie ME to clear up afterwards. Filling rooms with toxic air seems to be a speciality too!
