Thank you so much Jonathan for taking time to draw something out. Your alternative is close to a path we did consider, but the cooker is dual fuel and moving the gas to the r/h side now is a no-no. Moreover, the external wall is on the left side (as you look at the picture) and this is where the extractor must go given the way the beams run. Practical considerations eh! Re Independent help. I agree, and we have gone down this path (with independent shops), but all the designs presented so far have been...uninspired. Just to be absolutely clear, as I think my sketch is a little confusing, in my own example there are no units proposed down the right hand side; just a f/f at the nearest end. In this respect, I'm not quite sure where the space saving would be between your own and mine, but I'm likely just being a bit dense? (Do ignore the circle on the end of the "G"; that was a draft suggestion from my wife which I didn't erase from my sketch!) Many thanks again.

I'm not sure about either to be honest, sorry. I appreciate the ideas though! I think where i'm struggling is i quite like something gold/marble, i'm just aware I have gone for quite statement pieces so I want everything to effortlessly flow together and look well-styled but not gaudy/mish-mashed. I suppose I know how i want it to feel i.e. luxurious, elegant and feminine rather than how i want it to look, if that makes sense? thanks all! The vanity was made to measure. Just a wooden floating frame which we covered in tiles. Couldn't find a vanity to fit as this was less than 300 deep and about 1100 wide. The tiles we got from a company in Preston called ROCCIA www.roccia.com - they also have a place in Bolton but not sure if they deliver outside of the area. The tile was called Pantheon Marble (antique) by Cerim. Not found any other suppliers. Comes from Italy in all size formats. I got the 300 x 600 and they did them for about £45psqm. Similar ones we found from Mandarin stone were almost identical but didn't have quite as many streaks in. In fact I bought a full sized sample and had to use some of it for the skirting behind the WC and you can't really tell the difference at that angle. They are on sale now so a similar price (they were almost £60 psqm when i looked to buy them!) https://www.mandarinstone.com/product/mimica-sepia-grey-matt/ they are mostly grey but in some lights at a certain time of day, they can have just the very very slightest brown tinge but it's barely noticeable either.
