Pet friendly flooring that wont compromise the value of our extension
Comments (4)Sorry, continuing the question, So far it looks like we have two very different choices: Luxury vinyl flooring: easy to clean and scratch proof but not seen as adding value for what it costs (£50 per sq mtr incl materials and labour) for a good grade of Karn Dean Or Super hard wood like strada from Ted Todd that costs about £80 per sq mtr The cost is very high but it could be considered an investment that adds value I would appreciate any advice you can give us. Comments (7)Hi Loula, I would probably start with a geometric rug in grey and white. A shape mirroring that of the chair detailing. This will also still be crisp and contemporary like the rest of the space. Cushions in white will help tie the colours throughout the space rather than just having blocks of it. A large piece of art of work in the same colours on the wall behind the dining table would really work.. maybe a peaceful seascape to add a bit of tranquillity to an area for relaxing. Finish with a few accessories on the table and beside the TV to help bridge the gaps. Grey is a great contemporary colour that will work well with the scheme you have started. You now just need a few more layers to really bring it to life. At the end, as Liz suggested, you could add a single punch of a great colour to add a little warmth - my suggestions would be burnt orange or a deep rich purple. Otherwise, I hope this helps and I look forward to seeing the final room! All the best, Gina...See MoreAdding Value to Property
Comments (22)I would reduce the area of the backyard and expand the terrace on which more furniture can be placed and actually more guests will fit on this terrace. But first I would make estimating construction costs and find out how much it would cost me to add a terrace instead of a large backyard. If all calculations turned out to be positive and I had enough money, then I would made such repairs. However, I do not know how much money you have for this, so I will count on the fact that you have enough of them and therefore I advise the option of expanding the house and reducing the backyard. I hope you will be able to make accurate measurements of the area and you will go over the budget. I wish you successful construction!...See MoreExtension ideas please
Comments (36)To continue discussion I’ve tweaked Jonathons plan. Keep the downstairs new extension part J suggested but make a downstairs bed and ensuite plus separate wc where old dining kitchen is. Why I’ve suggested this is because then the new extension can be part single storey with some structural roof glazing and part two storey to enable a more fitting main bed and ensuite. If this was mine since I value outside space more than average I wouldn’t want to dominate the outside more than absolutely necessary and I’d like some roof glazing in the extension. Only having part of the new extension two storey might also allow part of the ground floor to be a storey and a half high. And the architects might be able to be creative and interesting in how the extension looks externally. Anyhow just a few thoughts. So drawing below is just to show downstairs bedroom change....See MoreNK interior design
