Sofa dimensions roughly 260cm across and chaise length 159cm ...will this make room look smaller ...I have placed cardboard and sellotape on floor but still can't visualise how it would look . I am normally very decisive! I am hoping to place a console table behind sofa adjacent to door ....See MoreDouble Reception Room Chimney Breast
Comments (0)Hi there, I'm in a dilemma and wondered if you could help please. I have a small double reception room with two chimney breast, with narrow alcoves. I'm thinking of knocking down the dining room chimney breast as well as the upstairs bedroom chimney, to create more room. My question is that should double reception rooms each have a chimney breast / would it de-value the house price? It would create a bit more space and also I'll be able to find some furniture to fit as the depth of the chimney is very narrow, but I don't want it to look odd. Thanks in advance. Comments (6)I would try to change the proportions of things (at least visually). If possible, are you able to remove the bookcase to the left of the door into the dining room? If so, this may be a good place to have a lovely chair or chaise. The large wall (behind toy cooker) is very prominent and bare. A very low unit (floating if possible) the full width of the wall would be a great place to store oversized books etc and the top could be used to display things that would look good in silhouette. You could also place a lovely mirror above to reflect light. http://loaf.com/products/cinch-mirror. The wall above the radiator (which probably gets little light) could be painted a dark tone and used as a gallery wall....See Morehow to divide double reception room with sofas
Comments (1)simply arrange the furniture(a sofa and 2 armchairs/Ottomans) around a central feature such as a fireplace/TV , in the reception room . Then arrange another set , maybe two armchairs around a window, nook, corner, bay window. it depends on your living room plan ,size and navigation areas. do u have a floor plan?...See MoreSi Xian
