Need help with living room interior.

Hi me and my partner have been living in this small 2 bedroom house for about a year now with no interior design to it. so I've recently just bought furniture to brighten it up. (The white and wood high gloss sideboard and bookcase) a entertainment unit of the exact same style is currently on its way.

Our L shape is new also so they are what we would be keeping.

I would just like to know if you guys had any suggestions about what colour the walls should be and the colour scheme.

Currently we are thinking to change the brown wall into a wallpapered white brick affect too accommodate the high gloss but we are unsure about this.

that same wall Is hard to work with as it is our feature wall (television on it) but it also had an annoying window.

I'm new to this stuff and unsure about what I want, I'm just hoping someone can help me with this mess, thank you in advance.

I think it could look good. However I would change your walls to a very light grey and lose the curtains. I would also add something like a grey cowhide rug and some bright cushions and accessories as it could look cold otherwise. Some contemporary black and white artwork would also look good. You could also try a yellow/red brick which will be warmer and tie in with existing colours. If you're not too sure on the brick then maybe try a grasscloth wallpaper to add texture. You could try a shade of brown to tie in with existing decor or go for a shade of duck egg and then accessorise with the blue which will give it more of a family feel. 1st and 3rd images from dellahome and decoist. I'm not sure of your budget but a coffee table and contemporary lighting would finish the room.

I've got my main wall with the white brick paper and the other walls pure brilliant white and I love it.clean crisp and bright.I wouldn't buy any more furniture, I would change the light shade to one that doesn't up light,and sheer,or is it shear,lol,white cotton curtains.I'll try and add some of my photos if you like.

A Roman blind is a good idea or curtains that hang outside of the window recess when open to allow maximum light to pour in. Whichever you choose, make sure they are hung high near the ceiling to make the ceiling feel higher up. What do you use the conservatory for? Is the door in the second photo the main entrance into the room? Would the table fit comfortably nearer the window end of the room instead? Then the sofa could go to the other end of the space - not sure if it fits. It's hard to see how the layout works from the photos and without the measurements or a floor plan. Alternatively, would the sofa fit it you turned it so that it faces the centre of the room rather than the window? I'd hang the seaweed mirror above the sideboard or behind the sofa (depending on final layout) and change the floor lamp to one which reaches over into the living space. Also, you need a much larger rug for the living space. The mirror and art are hung too high at the moment. After the layout is decided then you can think about maybe using wallpaper on one wall. Are you sure you have the measurements correct. That's around 300 Feet long by 45 feet - The size of a football pitch! That being the right size, you'd need to get an architect on board, presumably there are some windows there etc, you can't make suggestions until you know the basics - that starts with plumbing and drains., these will dictate where you can put the rooms.

I tried to place furniture in your room, but do not know where is window or not. So I got what I got. I am sure the round dining table will be better. I just did not have it in my software. Try to move two sofas on different direction. may be both on the corner would be better. Round table is on other corner.

You will still need structural engineer calcs for a window, as you would need for a walk through. ( just incase you weren’t aware )

I would paint the walls pale grey and the ceiling white. Move the sideboard to the wall where the high chairs are and put the biggest mirror you can with a silvery frame above it. Take down the curtains as they stop the light coming in. Maybe put up darker roller blinds for night time.

Certainly agree about loosing the curtains. Either silver venetian blinds, vertical blinds, or plantation shutters would make that area cleaner and tidier. (If you are not overlooked, how about leaving any window coverings at all). As for the feature wall -not sure about the white brick effect, as I feel that there would be too much of the same colour, and it would not stand out as a feature wall. There are many softer shades on the market now, and depending on the remainder of your room, choose a soft shade, either duck egg blue, or soft plum, and use this colour to accessorise in cushions, or a picture in same colour, but something else to bring the items together. With the emulsion, I would use a soft sheen rather than matt, as the soft sheen is easier to clean (I notice you have children), and reflects the light back into the room. Hope some of this helps.
