Sink on kitchen island - how to make it look tidy?
Comments (2)Adding a slide over surface could help hide things in the sink ? Either a wooden or composite type surface that's larger than the sink but doesn't interfere with the tap (and new soap dispenser ) try TK Maxx or similar for a good selection of wooden and composite type chopping boards maybe ? Adding a hanging rail for dish cloths over a washing up bowl stored in the under sink cabinet might keep things handy - and can be rinsed and emptied as an when needed . A large jug can look pretty and hide a washing up liquid bottle too perhaps ?...See MoreComposite sink vs stainless steel
Comments (4)I can only comment on Corian as my friend has had worktops and sink in it. She doesn’t like it all as it gets easily watermarked, even when the water is wiped immediately and it scratches easily. The scratch marks can be sanded, but this has to be done by a professional - difficult to find someone! I have a ceramic sink which I love - it’s easy to clean, and no I’ve never broken any crockery in it! Ceramic does have a more country vibe though....See MoreWhite Silestone Quartz recessed drainer or not and staining
Comments (9)I advise my customers not to bother and have the extra worktop space and use a tea towel or mat to put any washing up on. The grooves don't have enough fall in them to drain the water away so it just sits there and you get lime scale build up and they're harder to clean up. With the recessed drainer again the water will just sit there as there isn't the fall to drain the water away but the water won't drip over the edge. Again you lose so much worktop having this and its an additional cost, much more expensive than just the grooves. I think your installer is giving you good advice. Quartz is 100% sealed compared to granite and marble, but i'd still be careful and clear up any spills especially anything acidic and also not put hot pans on it, don't use it as a chopping board with sharp knives etc and it will look as good as new for years to come....See MoreUnusual open kitchen - how to paint?
Comments (7)Lovely space! Very quirky and individual. Do you mean minimalist in style or in budget? Your blue chairs made me think: blue for the bottom cabinets and white for the uppers. I think a light blue or a light green might be lovely, but you'd have to see what goes with the floor. A solid wooden worktop will be nice, but you'll have to be careful around the sink. Or maybe part wood part stone countertop, since it'll have to be in three parts anyway, if I'm correct? You could then do stone around the sink and wood on the other parts. The walls look very yellowish. I'd be tempted to paint them white and add a funky tiled backsplash....See Moreminnie101
