Keep the wardrobe and bedside table, maybe add some colour? Greys and blues would make the room feel warmer and add some more stuff to the walls (contemporary pictures) which will make the room a bit more interesting (a wall sticker would also look great above/at the side of your bed. Also, try get some more colourful bed covers as this will brighten up your room

I would suggest going for the plain reddish/pink throw with the rose/floral pattern cushion. Keep it to just those colours as you don't want it to look too mismatched as that could give your small room a cluttered feel. To add some glamour easily, I would recommend more lighting in the form of some candles and also perhaps some fairy lights around the window would add something extra to the window alcove.

Of course if this is a rarely used room you want to deliver a look on a budget and reuse what you can do I understand completely about painting the bed head wall. There is however a rational for painting the window wall that I think was missed by an earlier poster on the thread- When sat in bed no one notices the colour the wall behind it. Blue is a perfect, restful shade for a bedroom at night and should be seen. You are proposing a deep colour in a room with a modest window - a pale colour opposite the window would reflect more light than a dark one. Dark colours are brilliant for framing other objects and it is that contrast that makes it interesting - in your room the window is bigger than the headboard which makes it the better object to frame- personally I also think the dark colour would have been good for disguising the radiator that is fairly noticeable on a pale wall. Hi Laura. I like your (and Jen's) inspiration pic with Hague blue and greens. I might however paint all walls in it including radiator, skirting boards and the bedside cabinet (I might also consider at least the bedroom door). I think the colour works really well with wood so would leave the other furniture, If you like the botanical trend I'd create a headboard just behind the bed using mdf and wallpaper, the palm wallpaper is from b and q for £18. When trends/taste change you can easily and cheaply update it. I'd look at these pure linen Roman blinds from blinds 2 go hung outside of the recess to give some height (they're lighter online and will pick up the carpet colour and work out at £72 for a 90x90 blind). I'd layer the bed with blues and greens, a velvet throw would be lovely, this is from next at £50 for a single which you could drape over a cheaper throw. I'd move the bedside cabinet to the other side and therefore push the bed towards the radiator, then move the chest to the other side (and replace the wardrobe door) and have a potted plant against the chimney breast. Some more brass/gold would be nice for a table lamp but not sure of budget? The pendant lamp is from Laura Ashley, currently £49, but b and q also do one for £30

I think the room is nice. I'd look at something like this to work with the carpet and furniture (or hopefully!). Excuse the awful photoshop especially the giant stem on the left which I couldn't shrink and the shades are the wrong shape :) You could swap the juju hat for art, I just added it as hard to choose art for someone! I agree re the chest, if it can't be moved, can you widen the pole at all to leave a slight gap between the chest and curtains although it's hard to see exactly where the window frame is? I also agree with a warmer colour for the walls (and door and rad). I'd also try hanging the mirror as portrait and adding a 3rd frame to the other collection and maybe space them a bit so they're not touching? Could you also move the chair to another corner to add a palm as I think some greenery will really break it up?
