Comments (44)HiTino Felly, Marie Here. Your off to a great start - but you've made a common mistake in that you've found your inspiration for your colour palette, but your not committing to it. You need to bring the greens and blues up onto the walls and onto the floor - commit to it. You could: - add a great throw rug underneath the bed, - add big table lamp beside the bed - or better yet, a wall sconce, - drapery isn't really the best choice for this bedding - I would have brought in a bold graphic print here, in either the blue or the green - artwork can stay neutral - even do a collection of mixed metals in chrome, gold, and have fun with that - if you add too much in the blue and green it becomes boring and un-special. Choose your accessories carefully, I'd change out your drapery - go with something bolder, I'd also get a larger night stand so you could put a proper table lamp there. Good Luck!...See MoreI know this CAN be a fabulous room ... I just lost my way a little
Comments (660)So funny! I'm planning to paint the bannister at the new house (TNH) black and am veering towards painting the treads and risers black too... I've been searching for images of black staircases on Houzz and putting them in my entrance hall ideabook. They are few and far between. In your case, I think, with your white walls, maybe the stairs white and the bannister black? (Assuming the white walls continue up the stair walls enabling the b/w contrast.) You've already put black firmly into the equation, adding some more may give more reason for the black rad cab. In my case, there is a very off-centre radiator that could so very easily have been directly opposite the front door in TNH which is rather annoying as it stuffs up the focal point. We are leaving here with every radiator covered with a cabinet - and going to TNH that has loads of radiators ...but no cabinets! Yes, the work ahead is daunting - especially since the area of Ireland we're going to is very basic and not full of DIY resources, etc. I keep thinking I'll paint TNH white - to make things simpler(!) But try as I may colour keeps wandering through my mind! Lovely to be in touch again!...See Moreany obvious problems with this kitchen plan?
Comments (9)Unfortunately The Ikea planner doesn't show you the vaulted ceiling and that will make the room feel tall and narrow - by adding tall cabinetry on both sides you are accentuating that ... the software I design on allows me to put together a truer rendition of the room - with the ceilings vaulted etc to start with - and gives you a much clearer and image of the final result ... for that service on a room this size we are taking about the same price as a good dishwasher ... on the whole it's a small part of your overall spend - but allows you to shop around and compare like for like - negotiate deals and basically stay in control of your project ( as I work with you on the layout - suggesting and taking on board your ideas and wishes too ). I work independently and don't sell product. So you are then free to use the plans and get quotes, which are easier to compare, and then buy from where you like. The other way is the more traditional route of asking a few different companies to come over, survey, design, propose and go through their design and prices . But you should get a few quotes - so this may take quite a bit of time !...See MoreKitchen/dining upgrade - Am I missing something?
Comments (1)If you moved the proposed storage built in to the wall between the lounge and the dining room it would keep the room square allowing for the table and chairs to be aligned in both directions. Would work particularly well with a circular table. Also you could have floor to ceiling cupboards with glass doors at the top and solid at the bottom to hide the less lovely items. Narrow cupboards at 30 - 40 cm depth with lights could work well....See MoreV
