Bifold doors - blinds?curtains?internal colour

The majority of rear bifolds on a ground floor don't seem to have much in the way of blinds /curtains.

Can anyone recommend an elegant solution?

Also, the wooden bifold doors will be painted grey for the outside. With the inside being predominantly light /white do you think this contrast will look good - lord should they blend?

Grey and white for the doors will look fine.
Do you need blinds/curtains? Are you overlooked at all? I notice from your idea books that you like a streamlined modern look so I'd go for eyelet curtains in a plain fabric. If your walls are white, I'd look for a light grey curtain or if they're a taupe then look for a fabric that is the same colour or a shade or two darker. If you get anything too patterned the curtains will become too heavy, especially when pulled!

Hi Tracy, if you're after the best of both you can get shutters on a gliding track (see below) which look really nice but note that this can be quite an expensive option. Alternatively you could vertical blinds or even rollers which can be kept out of the way when you want the window exposed or even hung outside the recess if required. We moved into a house with bifold doors and I didn't want to spend an absolute fortune on large bespoke curtains for them. So I found some beautiful ones on the high street that were the correct height, then bought two pairs. I found an extra long curtain rail online and whilst I was going to originally sew the pairs together to make two large curtains - one either side of the door, I actually left them separate. This way I can pull three of the four closed but leave one pulled back on the opening side door, making access easier. Hope that makes sense!

Hi there, do you have brick work and an opening already there or are you creating a screen from nothing? Could you consider pocket doors? if you are having stud walls installed then you could have them made with pockets so that you could push the doors back flush in to them. Or if that's not a possibility slim double french doors are always elegant and classic. If you fit them with small blinds you would be able to create the privacy your guests would require but keep it light and airy for family use. The problem I can foresee with internal bi-folds is that you would have to have a channel in the floor for them to run in which won't be very attractive. There is also quite a bulk when they are folded up which will eat in to your space. Do you have any photographs or plans that we could see?

We got ours from Apple Blinds which is local to where we are in the North West. They are battery powered so didn’t need to be wired in. They operate by remote control which is attached to the wall with a discrete bracket and looks a bit like a smart home monitor I think. They need charging only once every few months. They charge by plugging in to charger for a few hours. The blinds when open are also very discrete but you should check whether they can be attached around your window frames. I agree with others that open glass is nice but I think for security purposes it is a good idea to have something for when you are away or over night etc
