Hi Denise I have just ordered shutters for my house for all the front windows which is costing around £1000 and roughly 8 or 9 square metres I'd estimate. However this is for DIY install shutters from the California Shutter company who have been recommended by a friend who uses them regularly, they aren't arriving until first week of December so I can't vouch how easy they are to fit yet!. They're prices start at £125 sqm in the sale at the moment. http://www.californiashutters.co.uk/ Take a look at Nina Campbell's Pagoda Garden fabric it's similar to your original accent fabric in the photo, although I don't have a sample to hand just now. It looks as though it has the stronger bluer tone you need to stand up to your walls. http://shop.ninacampbell.com/nina-campbell-fabric/autumn-2006/pagoda-garden.html I recommend a sample of a velvet or woven chenille for your footstool such as Osborne and Little's Peregrina F6350-07 or Canaletto F6142-10. These are contract fabrics suitable for upholstery which I can supply. Also Osborne and Little's domestic fabric Brehon Linens in F6520-20 is really gorgeous with lots of blue tones in which I feel would complement your scheme. Finally Sabi Addo F6272-08 is a really luxey light reflecting velvet and Rondelle Takarshi pictured here: http://www.osborneandlittle.com/products-and-collections/fabric/autumn2012/rondelle/tarkashi?id=2c149a3fd57045fd971eb480ac6a2b06 is a beautiful cut velvet for amazing cushions or throws if you are looking for that extra wow factor! If the blues become to silvery or yellowy you could always add in a neutral colour as I have done in my Coastal Scheme if you look on my profile. Hi. It looks a great flat. I'd keep paint light and neutral and use colour for accessories. The aurora sofa would be my choice, light in colour and with slim arms. Made.com do a couple of plug in wall lights you may like to go over the sofa. Perhaps consider a large potted plant between the sofa and FF. I can't really see/read the measurements but would a slim storage ottoman work as a cofffee table? Preferably one on legs. Use a rug to zone the seating area but I would keep the colour/tone close to the floor so the rug doesn't make the room feel smaller. I'd go for a bench set for the dining table, something like this where the benches tuck fully under. If you wanted chairs one side then go for clear, acrylic ones such as ghost. Add a sheepskin or cushions to the bench and I'd add a large mirror over the table. You can use a floor lamp with a slim base, maybe something like an arc lamp, to zone the dining area. I'd just go for one bedside table so as to access the wardrobe, maybe even consider a standard double bed. You can use paint or wallpaper to create a headboard and make the bed a focal point if you didn't want to buy a large headboard. Are you going for the mirrored pax? Can you include shelves and a pole over the WD for storage and coats? Perhaps look for a folding hoover so that and an ironing board can be attached to the wall either side of the cupboard (there may be room if the WD is to size?!) http://www.made.com/fjord-rectangle-dining-table-and-bench-set-oak

Hello Alice, your flat presents a challenge and your ideas look sensible. I wonder though.... since you haven't bought any furniture yet, would you consider having a design that uses built-in furniture. I know you don't want to spend a lot of money but if you need storage you could have lots of hidden storage and you'd certainly make the best use of space. Mirrors are always great for getting the feeling of space and light but if you were to consider the property as a container for living in, there is much that can be done to provide a comfortable and unusual home that will provide everything you wish for. With such a small flat I think it's time to think creatively and not go for the usual! I know I'm not providing any answers here but I hope I've encouraged you to explore all options before buying furniture that isn't ideal for small spaces. Yasmin.

Hi Rach, thank your for posting! I suggest you place your bed where the yellow x is, the reasons why I don't suggest placing your bed in the wall opposite to your bay windows is because, firstly, I doesn't look very nice to open your door and first thing you see is the bed and secondly, because as you said it won't be central to the bay window. In terms of storage, I could suggest having an ottoman bench below your bay windows for more storage or for your shoes. the wall opposite to your bay windows could be used to have a big wardrobe as you desire. In terms of having an en-suite, I would need to see a floor plan to give you my suggestion.
