Which is better, Shower Boarding or Tiled Shower Walls?
Comments (2)Hi! Me again! saying - a combination of the two :-p http://www.grespania.com/coverlam.php?sec=int Like we did in our bathroom, you could also use that 3 mm thin tile that comes in panels as large as 3X1 m. You'd need a good tiler to install it (it needs an almost perfect horizontal/ vertical surface) and can go for an extremely thin grout line. And it's not as expensive as back painted glass or resin panels, it costs just a bit more than an average, normal ceramic tiles....See Moregrout cleaning - how painful is it?
Comments (6)I agree with the comment about polished tiles, they're just a pain to keep clean, especially with kids and if you chip them then it stands out a mile. I have a little boy with a penchant for sand, mud and general grubbiness, and I'd happily pick tiles again, we really don't have any issues. They're a textured finish and they're not rough enough to attract dirt, but sufficient to give underfoot grip. Polished porcelain tiles are a death trap to children. Obviously if you drop a heavy pan on them they'll chip, but not easily, and laminate would as well, and can't be repaired as easily. I think you're worrying unduly...See MoreEncaustic tiles - grout looking grubby
Comments (5)Hi Rachel, We would advise against using bleach to clean the grout as it only stains the grout and doesn't get rid of the dirt. Bleach, as well baking soda and vinegar, will also break the grout down over time and damage it. A specialist grout cleaner will clean the dirt and help restore the whiteness, without the risk of damaging your grout or the tiles themselves. If it's really bad, removing the grout and re-doing it is the best option, and then be sure to use a grout protector afterwards to ensure it stays clean and bright white in the future. You could also re-do the grout with a darker colour grout, as this is much easier to keep looking fresh....See MoreWhat color tile grout?
Comments (0)Hi, we're re-tiling 2 bathrooms, both pretty small with showers. It's a small flat, so neither have windows, so no natural light. The flat is in Spain, so having vintage style floor tiles, just wondering what color grout to use. I guess the best would be like a darker off white, like the background color of the tiles, but I don't want it to get dirty after use and look awful. Or I don't want to create more cleaning than necessary for myself! You can see the floor tiles together for the pattern & then a photo with the wall tiles.
