I guess anywhere £4,000 for the most simple fixtures to £7,000 with more detailed features... It might not include desk and bed though for £4,000. If you want us to send you a precise quote, let me know. I would need exact room measurement though.

We're going through the same as you as we are having to replace our very expensive sisal runners with their beautiful black taping after only 5.5 years. Would strongly recommend against sisal anywhere, but particularly on the stairs. Any dirt, spilt drinks, splashes of water result in stains that even professional carpet cleaners cant get out. The pile is too short and it all gets embedded in those lovely ridges. They shrink away from the skirting board quickly because they cant be pinned down like normal carpet so it quickly looks tatty and we're only 3 people including an unusually clean and tidy child. I'm no expert but it doesn't sound too bad for the work that needs to be done. We are 1.5 years into a build and thought once the dry shell was up that was the major expense/work...it's not! I think at the stage you are at we had spent about 40% of the total build budget (included drains and services to site) We are planning on a total spend of £1500 ( no vat) per m2 but that's with us doing all insulation, plasterboarding and lots of other work... Basically on site working everyday. Probably if a builder was doing the whole thing we would be close to £2000 m2 but would have been completed in half the time. The house does have UFH and triple glazing, I've looked for the best prices on everything but it's all good quality. Material prices seem to be rising a lot too. Hi Naomi, What a great space to work with and some really fab ideas so far! We love the idea of having the gold touches against a bolder, solid colour. What about having a rich, jewel shade of blue or navy to complement, as already suggested? We love the current 'blue' trend at the moment in interiors and just feel that it adds such an elegant and opulent touch to an interior space, especially a bedroom. However, regardless of our opinion we will watch this space keenly and look forward to seeing your finished room! If we can help with any flooring or rugs you might require please get in touch!

My partner and I are buying our first house. My partner does a lot of table top gaming and painting figures, and one of the things from any house he bought was somewhere he could do that. It was virtually impossible to find a house that already had a big enough space for that in a decent area that was within budget. What we have found is a 3 bedroom house with a dining room and a garage. The plan was, in the short term, he games in the dining room and paints in the third bedroom, with a permanent painting station set up and there's sliding built in wardrobes that can be used to store all of his stuff in (there's a lot!). However, in the medium-long term, we want to convert the garage into a space he can game (permanently having a table set up) and paint. Maybe have his TV in there as well (smart tv, no need for an aerial point). It's a garage that's attached to next door's garage (but not the house), 60s built and currently has no electric inside. My dad's an electrician, but I'm not sure he'd be up for doing the electrics from scratch - if we had found a house that needed a re-wire, he said he wouldn't do the re-wire (we're about an hour away and he still works full time, plus other things he has on). If anyone has done a garage conversion in similar circumstances, it would be really helpful to know how much it cost. The plan was to save up 1/2 - 2/3 of the cost, then borrow off the mortgage.
