Terraced house Living room transformation

We completely redesigned a living area in a terraced house. We built a stud wall to seperate the kitchen from the living area & knocked out the 2 unused chimney breasts. We then installed a unique ceiling design, tv feature wall and custom light boxes.

Sounds like a plan, Tino. I really like that umbrella picture, and am looking forward to seeing where you put it. I also really like that red lamp. Just off the top of my head I don't think that its too much red, since your rug only has the slim red circle, and the couch has the red throw adding color. However, since you are the one there in the space you are the only one who can judge whether it too much color, or not. I'm glad that you think my ideas have been helpful-and, of course, I have a lot of company out here with a lot of good ideas, and design experience in a lot of cases.

Hi. It's a great room just needs pattern, art and a big coffee table. I'd keep the beams. The fireplace doesn't match the rest of the wood so would paint it. The skirting boards are making the room seem shorter but if you paint them you'd need to do the adjoining space. I'd go for a round or sunburst mirror just to soften the lines against the beams. In terms of layout I'd keep it as it until/ if you get new sofas as the tv is encroaching on the curtains. Maybe a floor lamp in the corner by the 3 seater. Definitely a big coffee table/footstool and I'd consider a rug too. I agree with mrsmcee re colour and patterns from your ideabooks. I'd also get a more feminine ceiling light and add a plant or 2.

I really like it! Looks very comfy, well done! I love the mirror but in my opinion you should create an asymmetry by putting different furnitures and the sofas take visually lots of place so maybe you should but a small table instead of this black furniture.

I agree with Jonathan that the original proportions and symmetry will be important for keeping a wow factor. The house may originally have had two living spaces on the first floor so you could consider using one room there as a study. If you are a doggy family, a boot room in the basement might be useful if you can enter the house at that level. I would be inclined to have a separate laundry /ironing room on an upper floor if you don’t hang washing outside to dry. In a house this size you could consider a cinema/ computer games room in the basement if you would use it. Are you wine buffs - how about a wine cellar? Future owners can use the rooms for different things to you if they are generous enough sizes. It is important that you get to use as much of the house as suits your lifestyle as well as having a good number of bathrooms for whatever number of bedrooms you end up with. Do you entertain much? If so, would you use a formal dining room. Are you musical? Do either of you have hobbies like painting, crafting, woodwork? Do you collect things? If your living room is on a separate floor from the kitchen, how about having a tea/coffee making facility and a drinks fridge in a cupboard on that floor?
