POLL: Dark green - love or leave alone?
Comments (24)Dark green looks great in the kitchen! It would work especially well with some natural wood, either in an island or as a contrasting cabinet. A wash of dark green, with the natural grain of the wood showing through, would also be a lovely but slightly more subtle way to play around with this colour scheme....See MorePOLL: Bread and butter or bread and olive oil/balsamic?
Comments (17)I voted 'other' - bit of a cop out because I love butter - not allowed unless I'm dining out, then I'll have as much as I can - and love 'artisan' bread (Why such a silly name?) with oils, but loathe olives. However, I think this is an absolutely massive rip off in restaurants where huge mark-ups make the proprietors a fortune and us stupid for paying way over the odds!!! There, rant over....See MorePOLL: Should 'Shabby Chic' be recycled or binned?
Comments (9)I agree with the previous sentiments. Shabby chic shouldn't be 'binned' outright but seen as an option or opportunity. I can't tear myself away from the idea that interiors work best when they are an equal reflection of the owners personality, the property and the heritage of the surrounding environment (there is definitely a Venn diagram in there!). For example I'm not keen on a room of distressed dressers in a 1970s town house. Throw a one off chic piece into a country cottage (twee lace, wicker hearts and all) and it can really work - especially when served up with a cup of earl grey in a traditional floral tea cup. Lol Most trends appear to peak and trough and a good designer puts a twist on it (for example the comments around softening industrial looks) and I for one look forward to its next incarnation....See MorePOLL: Outdoor Christmas lights - love or loathe?
Comments (17)I absolutely love Christmas lights, and it doesn't matter what colour or style, the more the merrier. I've only got one issue: Please people, take them down in January at the latest. By all means go all out from December til 12th night, in fact I applaud you, but if there's one thing I hate is defunct Christmas decorations hanging round in April. In fact I've seen some people leave them up all year and they think as long as they don't switch them on it's OK. No, sorry, we can still see them....And you're killing the magic!...See MoreAverage Jo
