Comments (143)Hello donned2004, Well you could remove all the things from the hearth.. So it has more space.. Hang the mirror and paint the chimney breast a nice colour to bring the fireplace into full focus.. If you wanted to have an even bigger recess.. you could open the fire out up to the sides of the wooden surround.. So taking out the 30's tiles.. Make sure the lintel is in place or doesn't need replacing and keep the surround it's rather nice.. Remove the current tiled hearth if you chose to open it out more.. and install a flat piece of slate.. So then you would have an open brick recess and a lovely iron basket could sit nicely inside for logs! Another idea to continue into the room.. might be to look at painting the woodwork a colour to compliment any wall colours you have.... Some lovely painted floorboards, or parquet or a natural Jute or Coir flooring if you have not already decided upon something.. : ))...See MoreGarden design ideas needed for cottage garden
Comments (9)Love the frontage of your cottage. That wall is adorable! You have a couple of shrubs there already. Do you know what they are? There are some great low growing plants that need very little work once they are established. As well as T Gray‘s suggestions, you could also add Aubretia which is a low growing plant that has gorgeous purple flowers in spring. It’s very common and available everywhere. Campanula is a blue flower that cascades in summer (some are tall so read the labels). Another flower is Erigeron, again it spreads and is low growing with quite large purple daisy like flowers in the summer. My favourite is Geranium - they come in a huge array of colours and various heights so check those before buying. They flower in the summer. Don’t forget daffodils, such a ray of sunshine in the spring. They can be planted in the autumn. A lawn is a great idea - relatively cheap to lay too. I think the best way to have a low maintenance garden is to stick with trees and shrubs which dont need too much fussing with. Trees can be pricey, but so many places sell shrubs, not just garden centres, such as nurseries,, supermarkets and even car boot sales! Comments (2)If you have already completed the construction phase of the house, it will be a little more difficult to fit everything in. Thinking about the landscape design immediately when creating the project house is desirable. But if that wasn't possible, it's worth doing it now. Also, if you want to create a special interior in your recreation area, think through the color palette and style. Which will be in harmony with everything around. You can see everything you need to do this here https://www.gardenfurniture.co.uk. I think that if you add more bright furniture, it will look more lush and beautiful against the green garden. Shades of orange or blue would work for you....See MoreNeed recommendations for garden designeR
Comments (0)I am purchasing a semi detached house in nw8. It has a small garden that i plan to renovate. Before exchanging, I’d like to get a landscaper to view the garden and make sure that there are no surprises later e.g. there are a few trees that I’d like to get removed. Any recommendations?...See Moreamadis05
