What colour paint and appliances for black & white kitchen?

I am currently moving in to a new flat and really struggling on ideas, I know I am going to be having white cupboards black floor and black work tops. What colour paint should I go for on the walls?. The same with fridge/washing machine/ microwave, White or grey? I do want a splash of colour for the blinds and tea and coffee pots etc but can't decide on that colour either. The kitchen is also very small.

Hello Anna in a small space I would stick to white walls and bring the colour out in your accessories. I would choose a white fridge and applicances these are easier to keep clean than stainless steel. You could add your favourite bright colour for the coffee pots. I have a small black and white kitchen and have highlights of red (that's my favourite colour). You could add any bright with black and white. Bright green, yellow, turquoise blue or orange. Depending on the type of blind you choose you could add a striped black and white blind or geometric. Keep it simple but stylish.

Does the kitchen get a lot of light? Having a black floor (and worktop) could drain a lot of light although it may make the floor feel a little bigger. I'd stick to white appliances or maybe stainless steel to reflect light. I assume you are having a new kitchen fitted though? If so, maybe go for integrated appliances as it will give it a more streamlined look.Any colour will go with black and white so choose your favourite but maybe try and coordinate the colour with the room it opens onto. Pick a small pattern for the blinds

I have the same. Look on my ideas book 'my house project' and it shows what I have done. Painted Portland Stone (little Green) and tiles the same colour. It is much warmer that it was. I have complemented with turquoise, greens and mustards.

I am not a fan of American Style Fridges so of course my opinion is tainted...... How about having European style fridge and freezers integrated? This will give you more fridge space, avoid the usual unattractive gap needed between cabinets and the fridge to allow the doors to open and give a more expensive finish to your kitchen. As far as the range goes- I have a pale one in a kitchen with anthracite base units and I think that looks better compared to a friend who has a black range in a wood kitchen. In my opinion the light colour future proofs the choice and should I or a future occupant of the house want to paint the cabinets they have more options.

I always like white units and wood, so great that the floor is wood so you could add more wood with shelving and chopping boards. Pic below. Or a mid grey can look nice like the second pic which is Dulux Chic Shadow.

Something more interesting! There are such a huge array of tiles available that you can have something lovely. As the units and worktop are dark I would go with a light palette. Hexagonal tiles are lovely. If you wanted subway tiles you could lay then in a more interesting way such as herringbone (better with slim subways) or upright, like below
