Does anyone have experience with bamboo flooring? Are there any negatives?

It is very dense and so good for bathrooms and looks beautiful with white suites. Just be careful in a bathroom, it need installing prior to fittings and the high gloss surface could be scratched by plumbers, tilers etc. It doesn't shrink like some woods.

what kind of music/arts school is it? Obviously as you will presumably have people coming in it's important that you avoid any trip hazards so this must be a nightmare for you!.. The only solution that i can think of, other than biting the bullet and sorting the floor out, would be to use the straight lines you have - the walls. I would get tables that can fold out from the walls (not sure how to describe them but they are attached to the wall with a hinge and fold out and legs fold out onto the floor but the main support comes from the wall) and then for seating go with firm bean bags with the leathery type fabric that you can wipe down easily. To lighten up the space, large mirrors will reflect the light coming in from the window, some spot lights in the ceiling or floor might be a good idea. Matthew Decorator's idea of lino is very good - my mum had an uneven floor in her kitchen and the builder simply plastered over the floor to make it level and then put lino down on top of her existing tiles which would have been costly to take up. Do you know what wood the parquet is made from? If I was you I would move my sofa and sand back a bit of the floor that will be covered by furniture. Then I would be able to see the kind of colour I'm trying to work with. I would say if both floors are going to be a mid to light colour it would be best to get as close a match as possible colour wise. I have two slightly different oak floors at home and it does look a little weird where they join (but then they are different plank sizes too). It just depends how particular you are. Did you know you can get bamboo parquet? If you are not too precious about the old parquet floor I would suggest that after sanding back you stain it in a colour to match with your new bamboo floor, then even if the two floors are a different design the difference won't be glaringly obvious.

I have been having this debate. Wood vs wood look tiles. In the end I have decided to have wood look tiles, because I know wood would get scratched and it would bother me. We have small boisterous kids, we move furniture around a lot (dining table when we have guests, sofa to check for lost toys, breakfast stools and chairs all the time) - those felt pads end up coming off - and I don‘t want to be nagging all visitors to take their shoes off. So for us, the tiles are better. But only with UFH, and rugs in the sitting area.

the lacquer is being damaged and the only solution is to sand it down and apply new lacquer. Best calling the original supplier as stated on the lable and ask them

Bamboo is not wood its grass it is very stable , but in my experience the colour changes over the years
