Need advice for kitchen cabinet
Comments (2)If you have your cabinetry in white you can paint the wall colour what ever you fancy and change it easily when ever you like !...See MoreI would like to update my kitchen cabinets?
Comments (7)I agree with a small budget you can change the look simply by painting them. I'd lose the handles, fill holes and opt for self opening push door hinges, Screwfix has some but there are a few kinds. They sit inside the cupboard. Even Ikea has some. Thus handles become surplus and add a cleaner aesthetic. I'd look to painting the lime green walls. Maybe with the tiles think of a complimentary colour...Dulux Timeless classics for budget paint that is really nice actually. They have a nice one called Bone China. It's a chalky cream and will brighten the room. So cupboards could be a darker shade of something stone coloured... Look at the tiles for inspiration.. Attic 11 from Little Greene is a good colour for the cupboards.. Thus the tiles suddenly look like they belong and the walls are bright and complimentary. Don't change the work top for a small budget - I'm suggesting 2 pots of paint (walls, cupboards).. some undercoat for the cupboard doors and a few hidden door open/closers. If you don't like the idea of not having a handle, maybe try then in a different position. Horizontal along the bottom for the top cupboard. Then they are all going the same way. Little things like these changes make big impact! :))...See MoreKitchen Cabinets and colour theme advice
Comments (11)Hi. If you look at little Greene you could use different shades of the same colour. I might look at slaked lime and clay. You can use the mid version on cabinets with the lightest on walls. If you wanted the island a different colour you could use the deep or dark version. A colour which may work (hard to tell without testing) is farrow and balls elephant breath shown on the kitchen pictured. I know you want to lighten the kitchen but you could do the island in an aubergine shade without it looking darker than it is now (pic is just showing it with a black worktop). I've tried picturing little Greene adventurer with elephants breath on the colour charts, the colour is nicer than my camera would suggest! Is it just a wall opposite the window? Could you add a mirror? Mrsmcee pictured one of my favourite stools :) do you have a budget for handles as they can add up to an awful lot!...See MoreKitchen update - advice needed
Comments (9)Mixed unit colours can look good with a modern kitchen, but I would leave yours one colour. Something simple and neutral like white, pale grey or taupe is easy to live with. I have a wooden worktop and I will be changing it. It needs oiling every few months, and even with that it is not hardwearing. Mine is covered in dents, has faded in places and gone black in places near the sink. Water and wood just don't mix. Your worktop looks pretty good, so fix the end piece on the left where the chipboard is showing. You can get iron on end pieces. So I would paint the units. Lots of people have done this so search “Repainted kitchens” on Advice. Change the knobs, loads for sale online, and change the tap for something more classic like a swan neck one. There are companies who sell replacements doors and drawers, as E D suggests, so that may be an option too. Below are a couple of pics of my deteriorating wooden worktop. it is 10 years old and not fared well. Second pic is a tap that may suit your sink. Is the sink ceramic?...See Moremockturtle1
