Renovating the kitchen . Old cupboards to be painted old white.dishwasher stainless steel ,new stainless steel Falcon range with you guessed it stainless steel behind the to be built range hood hood. Our problem is what to use for the splash backs . We picked the granite and now I cannot visualise agile to go with it

You don't need tiles. Just a granite upstand....about 10-12 cm high

Agree. 100mm granite upstand. Paint the walls with a acrylic eggshell/scrubbable matt. But make sure your walls are plastered to a high standard.

I thought I'd update everyone as to what we settled on as most of you won't have seen the finished post. Went went for Little Greene French Pale Grey on the walls and then a Grey Quartz worktop which had worked quite well. To stop it from being clinical, we opted for some textured wallpaper in the dining area which is Bala Storm (I think) from John Lewis. We then added some natural tones using a wooden table, and then Vitra chairs. Along with wooden fruit bowl etc. The main window will have wooden venetian blinds, and the bay windows will probably be done in a darker grey material as the perfect fit style blinds you find in conservatories

Thanks lovely. We expected it at some point but for half the amount of flats. it seems nigh on impossible for a council to refuse under Permitted Development Rights, have only found a couple of cases. It means that the flats are way below the Nationally Described Space Standards (which gives minimum square footage etc based on dwelling, occupancy), have little parking and a few have no windows at all whereas a number only have one window into the kitchen/living area. Annoyingly the owner was Chairman of his parish council and sat on the DC planning team and objected to so many developments that affected him or his village..... Rant over, sorry! oh it was the mosaic company, I think they're also called zellige tiles. I'm guessing that's where you got yours too as the colours were numbered and I remembered your black tile number

Estimated guess of measurements. When replacing the kitchen, from left towards right and up: Tall built in fridge freezer, 45 dishwasher, 45 sink, corner Lemans with 45 door, 60 drawers, 60 cooktop+oven, 60 drawers, filler cabinet. The tall unit would block some view into the kitchen, but it is for a good cause (and fortunately you have light coming from all corners). Also use two heights upper units, so you'll gain an extra shelf on the sink side. Plain white will prevent it from looking odd. Lower units could be a different color (with white top?), whatever floats your boat. And you could add storage under the eaves, but not deep enough for workspace, and it would be hindered by the dining table. Besides, the open floor adds to the feeling of space, so I personally would keep it open.

How does your window cill fall ? If it's not that higher than the top use that as your datum point
