Polished concrete...No underfloor heating?

We are building a passive house and would like to have polished concrete floors but are concerned they will absorb a lot of heat from the room and be very cold to walk on? Any advice please...?

Polished porcelain tiles - yes or no?

Polished porcelain tiles look amazing in an open plan kitchen. They really reflect light well, are super hard wearing and really give a kitchen a luxury finish. I would recommend using underfloor heating as depending on your sub floor it can be a little cool under foot otherwise. Also some polished porcelain needs to be sealed so choose a pre - sealed tile and save yourself the effort on that point.

Hiya, We are just in the process of completely renovating our downstairs and have gone for pale grey walls (F&B Ammonite) and navy / Inky blue Shaker units (Como from Zoffany) with a white marble look Quartz (Bianco Carrera from Unistone) After a huge amount of indecision, more samples than we knew what do with and a lot of help from our designer, we nervously selected some Seasoned Limestone tiles, which we are using with a wet underfloor heating system. The kitchen isn't finished yet but you can see some pictures of the flooring which has just been laid- the pictures really don't do it justice! It's definitely my favourite bit of the renovation so far, they are great big tiles at random sizes between 60 x 60cm and 60 x 90cm and they really make the room. Whatever flooring you pick I highly recommend you pay lots of attention to the texture; we found a lot of colours looked quite similar but it was the quality of the finish, thickness of the tile, the texture and finish of the edges that made a huge difference to how the stones looked and the quality of the overall feel. Hi Gabby - yes I noticed that as well re the notifications!! Ridiculous! Maybe there is something in settings that stops that otherwise I will just have to unfollow everyone, urgh. Whats the name of the one you liked from the samples? There was some nice Karndean BUT they were well out of our price range so it always depends on your budget of course. We wanted a warm but neutral floor and this one looks both warm and cool sometimes. Originally I wanted a rich warm floor to balance out the grey but the orange tones clashed with the units and made them look too blue/retro so we decided to go with this one instead.

I am having same dilemma, although in Australia so may be different climate. I've noticed that concrete floors are generally not as cold as you'd expect, maybe because they are in contact with ground? Still thinking of getting underfloor heating installed in slab just in case.
