Cream room bland?

As I've mentioned before I'm colour phobic I love colour in other people's homes but defiantly not in mine I am getting better and am starting to introduce some muted tones. Well I have duck egg blue accessories in 1 room... It's a process. I'm struggling with the design for our new master bedroom in our new house. I have beautiful walnut furniture and cream suede curtains I'm just trying to figure out how to keep it all cream but stop it from being bland by using texture as apose to colour???

You can use different shades of cream as well as different textures. Yocould even mix creams and whites as long as there's a good balance. I would also add some patterns which could be in wallpaper, rug, cushions etc. Add mirrors and some statement lighting (maybe with some metallic). You could also add plants or flowers ( maybe try and get some really good artifical ones rather than have a weekly expense). To balance against the dark walnut maybe some black lampshades and framed art or curtain poles is that too much colour?

Haha no I can cope with black although I think I'll keep it cream and white I like the idea of using patterns and I have really wanted to add a rug for a while I'm just not sure how or where. There is cream carpets n then on 1 wall bed and bedside tables on the opposite wall is a 4 door wardrobe with double mirror in the middle next to that is a chest of drawers. On the next wall is a window and the opus it's wall is the door and next to that is my dressing table. All the furniture matches. Where would you put a rug?

@colourhappy I totally agree. Like everyone else I can’t help being influenced by trends but I really try to choose things that are not too ‘of the moment’. Like those enormous wall clocks someone else mentioned. They look fab but they are definitely a trend that will define this period. Eventually there will be a lot of them in landfill. Our trusty magnolia paint saw us through 10 years of family life in our old house with 3 young children. It was super easy to slap a bit more on if it ever got dirty - who am I kidding, I mean WHEN it got dirty. It didn’t clash with the wood effect floors which I think many of the currently popular grey or yellow colours would have. I suppose I’m also lucky that I’ve not spent much time as a renter so I don’t have the frustration of having magnolia forced on me. I don’t remember it being a thing in the 80s either. I DO remember the Dulux ‘hints’ range from then though: Apple white, orchid white etc. My Mum loved those.

Is that lime green back splash something that is permanent or easily removed? If it's permanent, my thinking is to go something neutral and do lime green accessories - then you can change it up when you get tired of them.

Oh no, have I?! All cream and white can look really good. I've attached an image of how to place a rug as it's easier than explaining but there are other options.

Oh I really like that and would never of thought of it. Do u think different patterns on the accessories (rug cushions throw lamps maybe a chair? or keep with the same pattern throughout?

I'd mix the patterns, you don't need to have patterned everything though maybe 2 or 3. When you mix your shades of cream and white just go for both cool shades (so maybe with a slight grey undertone) and warm shades so it isn't all one dimensional . I'll see if I can find a bedroom done the same way with walnut furniture!

That's good, both of them weren't strictly cream but they had different textures and materials hence picking them!
