Our new shower room
We bought our period flat in January 2015 and knew at the time of purchase we had to overhaul the current shower arrangements as soon as we could; We fondly came to call it 'shower cupboard'. From the picture you will see why that was the case! A very strange arrangement indeed which meant you stepped out directly from the shower into the hall... not ideal!
We took the decision to knock through into the space that sat behind the old shower and was currently being used as a box room off the living room. This meant that we have been able to fit a double shower plus sink making it into a much more comfortable shower room.
Instead of blocking up and removing the old door frame we wanted to retain the period coving and skirting to retain some of the period charm so we decided to turn this into what is known as an 'Edinburgh Press' up here in Scotland.

Stone hand basin - any problems?

Comments (20)Thank you all so much. It has totally confirmed what I was thinking to get rid of the blue as a first step. I have Little Green French grey paint left from another room I might trial or FB setting plaster. Didn't think about hanging plant and adding horizontal line with panelling both great plans. thanks. Maybe after doing this I will feel less need to start totally from scratch. Loo over sink - as an FYI to others - is great in principle as we didn't have enough space for a separate sink. On reflection wouldn't do again. Sink is too small and very annoying to use. But it is eco as the water from washing hands is recycled and used to flush the loo!...See MoreNew House - but what on earth do we do with our living room?
Comments (9)Here’s what I would do ....get rid of striped wallpaper and paint the walls . Place a large mantle mirror over the fireplace . Position one sofa at right angles to fireplace ( as it is now ) but have two chairs opposite with coffee table in centre. A console table , in same position , but slimmer with a curated collection of art work above if . On the long fireplace wall I would consider floating shelves at different heights with plants and accessories. Play around with placing furniture. It’s amazing how moving something a few inches can make a difference to the balance of a room . Same with art work....don’t dot it around or hang it too high . Have fun !...See More
