What style of contemporary gas fire/fire Place will look nice here?
Comments (5)I personally do not like TVs over a fireplace. I know it’s very popular but they are not good for watching TV as they are too high and can cause neck pain and headaches. I wonder how many of those people visit the doctors complaining of neck and head pain! A TV should be at eye level or below when you are sitting down. Also wouldn’t the heat from the fire cause possible damage to the TV? Have your fire by all means, but the TV is better on a low unit on one side of the fireplace, depending on where your sofas are placed. Don’t discard electric fires. There are some really nice modern ones available and you just plug in and go. Here’s some examples....See MoreFire places help
Comments (3)The pipe in the marble one may be a gas pipe where someone may have had a gas fire inserted there. If it is, then a gas engineer will be able to remove it and seal the end for you. It may be an idea to get all the chimneys swept before you decide to use them for a fire....See MoreFire Place in Awkward Position
Comments (11)I honestly don't think it will be a huge deal to have the fireplace to the side (I'm usually very OCD about having things symetrical) if the fire surround is going also that sortof means it won't be such a huge chunky thing and you could tone it down.. of you brought a wood burner you could get one of those long tall ones and then almost turn that corner into the 'cosy' area- I'm afraid I don't have an image of this but my friend has done it and it looks really good you can still have the sofas boardering the room the whole way round but just have the log burner in the corner...See Morefire place demolition
Comments (4)They are actually quite easy to remove, but they can be very heavy. Usually it's only 2 or 4 brackets holding the surround to the wall. You just have to find them. They are buried just under the surface of the plaster. They hearth likewise moves away quite easily if you can wedge something behind it and lever it away....See MoreNajeebah
