need help decorating my room, any ideas !

hello everyone i need some help with decorating my room i need some advice on the wall colouring especially and the furniture and lighting. please advise ! your views are much associated and yeh the room is 16x22ft excluding the store room area and the bathroom.

Hi. What is your preferred style as there are a few different ones in your Ideabook. What colours do you like? Does the room get a lot of light? What is the flooring? Are you buying everything new? Is the store room for clothes or do you need wardrobes in the room?

What a great size of room! I'll try to come up with something. :) what are you must haves when it comes to what you need in the room? would you happen to have a floor plan available with window and door placements?

houssaon I sat with a piece of it on my floor this morning and I screamed to myself 'what am I doing , Ive got rid of an axminster for this ! ' so I went to the shop and have found a neutral brown carpet 80% wool which suits a large rug I have and should bring out the colours in my new suite , I am glad I took the rug with me because the small chair is a near match to the suite, and the rug/ chair look nice together . I was tired and stressed late last night having taken up my old carpet last night in 1 piece in case I ever thought about putting it back ! everything now happens Thursdaywhen the carpet is fit and the dining suite and lounge suite is installed Ill upload. youve asked about my style ? Im going for the stressed look ! no I want a classy look but also minimalistic due to it not being a big through lounge thanks for your comments to date ps anyone want an axminster !

Judging from the interior image that you provided, the wood of the chalet looks warm and inviting. Once you start whitewashing or painting all the wood, there's no turning back without great expense. Before you make any changes, make up some pine "walls" and test them with a) white whitewash and b) pale grey whitewash. The easiest (and safest) route would be to change the furniture. Use reflective surfaces for tables and chairs in white or light colours. Upholstered furniture can also be light or punchy like turquoise, sharp greens, etc. Removable and washable covers would be perfect for keeping the chalet clean, particularly if you plan to rent it out. The floor looks to be a pinkish tile. You could change this to a paler tile that looks like travertine or limestone. This will contrast well with the wood and be easy to clean. Have you thought of rearranging the furniture so the tv isn't the focal point? Furniture against walls can make a room appear smaller. If the budget permits I would add a coffee table to bring furniture into the middle of the room. I would also add a mirror to the dining area to bounce light and maybe install a low hanging pendant light over the table. I would also choose a neutral coloured rug as using a single colour for an item becomes the focal point. Grey is a good modern neutral for walls. If you want to use paper on a smaller wall choose a small pattern that won't date unless you don't mind repapering to keep it up to date. There are some really fantastic papers around at the moment such as chinoiserie, bold contemporary and typography but it depends on your preferred style? Maybe use plain (not patterned as this may date or your taste will change) velvet or silk curtains to soften the room. Use different colours and textures for the accessories to avoid block colours as per comment above. Pattern/interest can also be added in the form of wall art.

yes I like the jungle idea possibly, though not sure if should keep with ivy as it matches whats currently there.. , not sure about the shelves or seating by the TV though. In the room next door there is an an 8 seater table, and a kitchen island, so its not as though this is the only place to have seating I guess. I like the ideas of natural look, almost Japanese, bamboo, bringing the garden in, just having difficulty with which wall colours, what to do with the post? keep white or make a colourful feature of it, and also what colour sofa bed, rug, paint on the walls to make everything blend in. It's so difficult, can't go for a lightish sofa, as it would just get too dirty, but I'm open to all ideas and very very much appreciate both yours and Rukmini's I have no idea how to put a room pic together like that so it helps massively. They have a lot of friends round, so a comfy rug /beanbags are also great, as long as we can also put them somewhere away too, so they're not in the way
