POLL: Snow - heaven or hindrance?
Comments (25)It a bright, fresh and exciting downfall that can be enjoyed by all, sledging, walking, building snowmen, snowball fights. Yes there is a downside/s to it but then would we not want a nice, hot, sunsoaked day just because we burn in the sun. Just have to go with it and after all it doesn't snow that often not to be able to put up with the inconviences every so often. 59 year old working grannie no spring chicken. Let it snow just be careful not to break a leg....See MorePOLL: Shower or bath?
Comments (39)I don't use the bath ever but I have an over head shower, perfect but if we didn't have a small bathroom I would just have a shower, reasons why we had a bath put in when we renovated was of a selling point....See MorePOLL: Do you stick to a budget when renovating?
Comments (5)I'm a single mum in a council house so the notion of employing builders is laughable to me. However, I love a beautiful home so I am doing it room by room: I spend six months over autumn and winter pouring over and sourcing ideas, so I have an overall, detailed plan. Within that I begin to buy 'pocket money' details (a picture frame, an inexpensive cushion) month by month whilst squirrelling away a budget for larger items (and yes, there are months when the kids wonder if there will ever be anything else but baked beans for tea). In the warmer months, I can get down to the big jobs like wallpapering or painting, upcycling or even installing a new piece of furniture (a certain Swedish outlet does very well out of me.) I have lived with kids beds and desks cluttering up the living room for months while I gather everything together for the final 'pulling together'. For a bit of temporary inconvenience, this helps me stick rigidly to a budget but allows flexibility....See MorePOLL: Outdoor Christmas lights - love or loathe?
Comments (17)I absolutely love Christmas lights, and it doesn't matter what colour or style, the more the merrier. I've only got one issue: Please people, take them down in January at the latest. By all means go all out from December til 12th night, in fact I applaud you, but if there's one thing I hate is defunct Christmas decorations hanging round in April. In fact I've seen some people leave them up all year and they think as long as they don't switch them on it's OK. No, sorry, we can still see them....And you're killing the magic!...See Morebagpuss2
