Help with my dull lounge!
Comments (37)Hi there, We think you have created a lovely lounge, and you should be very proud of what you have done so far as it has been put together very tastefully. The only thing we think you are missing to complete the look and add character are those all important Accessories! Often forgotten and always missed when they are. Looking at your Blue and Neutral colour scheme we would recommend introducing a contemporary cream rug by Eichholtz, select the dimension that will be big enough for the front feet of the sofa to ideally fit onto the rug! https://www.pavilionbroadway.co.uk/eichholtz-wilton-rug.html We would also recommend adding a touch of colour by painting your fireplace wall in Parma Grey by Farrow & Ball. Then.... what the room would really benefit with is a pair of paintings or limited edition prints. I have included a pair that we have available of Orchids to show you the idea in the quick collage that we have created for you. https://www.pavilionbroadway.co.uk/home-accessories/art-and-antiques/prints/kelly-cutter-orchid-print.html We hope this helps and if you would like to find out about some of these ideas or products please do give us a call and one of our designers would be happy to assist you! 01386 711512. Comments (7)It depends on whether you are north or south facing. North. I would suggest a quality taupe carpet as base. You can make ANY Colour decisions after that. If you overlook a garden look for beautiful modern greens - and purples as your first response suggest. You could have a feature wall in the purple - or a paper for added warmth and style. Lamps in patterned green - look at Pooky. Not cheap but lovely. Perhaps a rug with some green in it or with some stone plus purples? Curtains neutral but warm and padded. If south facing how about blue and white with cream carpet and large glass coffee table. Goes with every colour of flowers! Lovely with red for cushions in Winter. If you want a more masculine look, go for navy and white. Think Ralph Lauren. If south facing, what about shutters for the windows and no curtains....See Morestruggling with my duck egg living room, help!
Comments (16)I hate to say this as you have just had curtains & pelmet put up, but if you were starting again I would let the curtains hang on either side of the window so they didn't cover the window at all, just the wall when pulled back, this will increase the amount of natural light you have coming in significantly, it would also mean you can lose the tie backs which can look a bit old fashioned. Also it looks like you have one standard lamp & presumably something in the ceiling, add loads of lamps, either freestanding or on tables, also a large mirror opposite the window will reflect light. Also if you look at the pictures above the rooms are quite busy with shelving, ornaments, side tables etc however as it is all in one colour palette it still looks calming. The style of sofa does make a big impact on making the whole scheme look more modern. Also worth thinking about wall paper which can be in the muted tones but can have a texture or low key pattern to it & if you were only going to do one wall, so only a roll or two, you could get an expensive paper with some wow factor to it....See MoreHelp, how do I make our kitchen look less dull? Comments (35)If this is a short term fix, I'd try to find a fabric to tie in those terracotta ties with the off white paint you're using elsewhere and just put a simple roman blind (it doesn't need to work) at the window. Something like this will tie in and has the grey of the floor. We moved last year and I'm sorting out building work - in the meantime I've added nice curtains and blinds and it's meant I don't mind living with it. And I think the open shelves alongside the window will make an enormous difference in taking the eye away from the tiles....See MoreDiyan Iliev
